Every so often I reinstal MSN messenger and I'm looking through these forums to remember how to remove these annoying MSN popups. SO here is a thread to find more easily, basically form my intention, but maybe it will help some other s 
Go to Run under your start menu,
Type "services.msc /s" without the quotes and press ok,
Scroll down and find "Messenger" and right click and choose properties,
Find "Startup type" and change it to "Disabled",
Click Ok and on your next startup, they should be gone.
