Why couldn't they just take the wood and keep moving? Did they have to destroy the man's only source of money and food and all that stuff you need to live?

Like anyone really would have missed that wood that they took anyway. That is some bs. Don't you think there should have been an officer there that at least seemed intelligent. I hope those dastards get sent to the Russian front.

Ok, yeah it's abuse of power and yeah there was no need to crush the truck, but really...Taxi Driver? I doubt it, sorry but there is no proof of the owner saying he's a taxi drive. The end is just someone adding in something b/c they do not support the war trying to make the little movie more of an impact on others. I could do the same thing if i really wanted to spend the time on it.

taxi driver or not, there was no need to crush the friggin car. that was just a bunch of *racial slur here* wanting to assert their authority. they didnt need to shoot it up in the beginning either. yeah, they were stealing, but its still not in their hands to be judge jury and executioner. what they were doing was worse than stealing wood.

Imagine for a second someone doing that to YOUR property. Whether he was a taxi driver or not is inconscequental *spelling??*. It's no wonder the troops there are having such a hard time with crap like that going on

Looting has to stop some where and in some way. This would make others think about the consequences of their actions. Do you really think that just taking the wood from those looters, would stop them from coming back later and taking the same wood again? I think not.

Since this has made its way into the public eye, I feel that if those soldiers needed to be punished for their actions, their superior officers would or have.

We are missing a part of the story where the men were all sat down and probably had their weapons taken from them. Why did we not get a single afterwards shot of the owner whose car was his lively hood? Wouldn't that proven the point better??? hmmm..... This just seems like people who want to place whatever they see in a bad light. (Reminds me of a certain "documentary" producer by the name of Michael Moore)

Even though I don't know the full story behind what happened, I have to support what the soldiers did. I fully support our soldiers and their superior officers who will help enforce the rules and regulations of the U.S. Armed Forces.

There still was no need to destroy the car. They could just take the wood and immobilize the car. You say that taking the wood wouldn't stop them? Well how is crushing the car going to do that?

I thought that was so the glass didn't fly all over the place.

I support the soldiers and what is trying to be accomplished there as well. I don't support justice that is dealt with in that way. I don't understand what crushing the man's car does to stop looting. The only time that they are suppose to destroy property, to the best of my knowledge, is when it is a weapon of some sort.

They were stealing wood. You can even see it come out the back of the car when they crush it. Apparently the wood wasn't important enough for the soldiers to take it out of the car. If they had weapons then they should have been taken into custody and held as prisoners.

It is very tough to make a clear judgement without all the facts in front of you. It is obvious that the media shows what they want you to see. From what they show, and without trying to come to any conclusions, what they did was wrong.

We have yet to discuss more about the looting.

They were stealing from someone else? Not americans, obviously. They were stealing from their own neighbors, their own country men. This is happening many times over through out Iraq these days. Those who are stronger just steal what they want from those who are weaker.

This sort of action should and will be stopped. Obviously, asking these people nicely to stop stealing from their neighbors doesn't work, so other methods have to be used.

The sooner that they consider their neighbors to be their "brothers" and treat each other with some common decentcy, the sooner our soldiers will leave them to provide for themselves.

I think that's the point, when you see crime taking place, there still is no facility or process to arrest and prosecute someone for it. The army is enforcing martial law as best they can, and crushing the car was an example.

I think that crushing the guy's car was a bit of an over-reaction, but I have absolutely no sympathy for any Iraqi who is taking advantage of the lawlessness over there for their personal gain. They are the root of all the problems over there, and they need to be taught a firm lesson. How about helping to rebuild your infrastructure instead of stealing or blowing it up?
