my g/f had the exact same problem. im not sure what started it, but this fixed it.

run the program "msconfig"
click on startup tab and remove the item that corresponds to the folder opening. note that there may be multiple items that say "system32" in them.

first check the startup menu in your programs menu. make sure its not as simple as fixing a bad shortcut.

if its not there, well, open up registry editor (regedit.exe) and be careful - you can screw up your computer from here...

naviagate to the following key in the left pane
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

you should see stuff in the right pane. if you see your sound card program being loaded there, you can double click it and edit it to remove the space. if its not there, try the following location in regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

this should help.
