1. You can't group all "porn" together.
2. You can't group all "drugs" together.
There are pro's and cons for each individual type. It's not something you can generalize.
It's like the difference between Marijuana and Heroin. Or the difference between two mature consenting adults having intercourse and child porn. There are extreme differences in all of it.
How about the difference between alcohol and pot? The only difference is one bares the label of "controlled substance". Cigarettes and alcohol are drugs which can cause brain damage, dependency, and even death. Yet, they are totally legal and even advertised all over television and in magazines.
Here's one for you. . .Currently, in America, some minorities are still allowed to ingest psilocybes for spiritual reasons, while the rest of us get thrown in jail for it. And. . .uh. . why would that be? If it's safe for them, why wouldn't it be for us? If it's harmfull to them, why allow them to do it? No, you are not allowed to "convert" to their religion.
Good luck with that one. It's been debated and gone over a million times. Can't professors come up with something original? I think we covered that subject in like 4 or 5 of my college courses. _________________ Recipient of POTM award

yeah, three questions determine 25% of my final grade. They are
1. Choose two opposing arguments in your text with regard to capital punishment. What is each author's position and why? With regard to each author does he/she offer propositions for improving the system or does the author believe the system does not merit chang and in either case what support does the author give for his/her position? As to each author's position, do you agree or not, if you do or don't agree, state why providing analysis for either position you take.
2. Comparing Bradshaw and Corvino, why does Bradshaw think Covino is confused? Do you agree, explain with analysis your position and incorporate Corvino's arguments where applicable? According to Bradshaw, whar are the first, second, and third levels of opposition to homosexuality? Do you agree, explain with analysis your position and incorporate Corvino's arguments where applicable?
3. List and discuss the pros and cons with regard to legalizing pornography and drugs. Incorporate where applicable Mill, Garry, and Wilson's positions with regard to these issues. |

LOL @ Nanite.
What kind of philosophy class is this? These sound like questions I'd ask my grade 12 social class. Where's all of the elitist Russell and Descarte banter?
As for capital punishment, I believe that every person our society chooses to kill - the less civilized we become. It's causing a downward spiral in my opinion, it may seem fair but it undermines our society's morality - it's proliferating callousness. And people are just beyond callous, the other day I saw a .gif of a man jumping from the 80th floor of the WTC... then it flashes "OWNED". I asked the kid and the people laughing at it WTF was so funny, and they said they choose to laugh at those kind of things than be saddened. It kind of makes sense... until you realize they're complete sociopaths. |

I used to be for capital punishment, but now I am against it. Killing someone even if they have killed many just doesnt make much sense. It is the easy way out for them. It is supposed to act as a deterrent, but it obviously isn't deterring anyone from killing. There isn't a punishment out there that will stop psychopaths from killing people. We just need to be better at preventing the crime from happening in the first place, which is quite impossible to do completely.

We need less Ted Bundy's and more Al Bundy's. |

I think what the third question is asking is more about what the effects of watching will have on those viewing. Is it right or wrong to watch others, and what are the moral implications? |
