What is sad, is that I seriously have sounded like that before... and on more than one occasion!
Being the anniversary of the Columbine shootings is another BIG reason I don't like celebrating on this day.... I mean, that combined w/ it being Hitler's Bday just REALLY don't appeal to me. Why would a bunch of little skater kids, and wannabe homies really celebrate on 4:20 these days? It's hugely moronic if you think about it long enough.
I'm tired of thinking about it. I'm going to pack a bowl in my bong, and go shoot some Nazi's in DoD. _________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

It's from those students at Berkley who met everyday after school at 4:20. The day really has nothing to do with it that I know of, just the actual time of day. The day 04/20/04 is just a coincidence. At least that's what I have gathered.
It has nothing to do with Hitler either. That's just a coincidence. It has nothing to do with it what so ever. Half of the people here share birthdays with serial killers and mass murderers but you still celebrate your birthday right? Because it's just a coincidence. Same with Columbine and whatever other disaster you can think of.
I don't care if the devil himself shared my birthday. I'd still celebrate it. _________________ Recipient of POTM award

Found it! I was close but not totally accurate.
The Origin Revealed
According to Steven Hager, editor of High Times, the term 420 originated at San Rafael High School, in 1971, among a group of about a dozen pot-smoking wiseacres who called themselves the Waldos, who are now pushing 50. The term was shorthand for the time of day the group would meet, at the campus statue of Louis Pasteur, to smoke pot. Intent on developing their own discreet language, they made 420 code for a time to get high, and its use spread among members of an entire generation.
A quote from one of the Waldos in the High Times article states, "We did discover we could talk about getting high in front of our parents without them knowing by using the phrase 420." Fortunately, your teenagers will not have that same option.
Simply put, 420 is a symbol of cannabis and its culture. Today, April 20th events are international, and 4:20 pm has become sort of a world wide "burn time". _________________ Recipient of POTM award

I had no idea about today either, heard some people saying happy 420 day on the servers but I didn't bother to ask what it was about. |
