How do i start in Safe Mode on XP Home?

I tried going into settings from the first black screen but i didnt see the option there.

I got a nasty virus i need to get rid of but nortons wont delete it, it basically says, restart, start in safe mode, run scan gg.

Doesn't it say in the top right corner which buttons do what? It's a good thing to know.
