Try this site it looks good as far as custom stuff. Careful there is a lot of pop-ups on that site . Hope you have a pop-up stopper.
If not go here ---> http://www.panicware.com/product_psfree.html _________________

The little circle one is greatness, I am still trying to get used to the sounds, and the win songs are much better. |

From the first page:

Try typing this code into console:
cl_xhair_style 1 (there are 12 styles in total I think, just replace 1 with a different number to use a different style.)
If that still doesn't work, you can go here: C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\YOUREMAILADDY\day of defeat\dod\sprites
And delete this file: CustomXhair.spr
However, finding a different crosshair that you like can help a lot. I find the default dynamic crosshair to be irritating, it tends to block where you're aiming since it's so fat and constantly moving. The one I use is a small, faint red crosshair. |

Speaker,
I don't know what the cause was, but since I started using an LCD flat screen monitor, my in game brightness has been a real problem. I have to go into Display properties in Windows before each game and crank my gamma up to be able to see decently in dark parts of HL maps. It works, but it is a pain in the butt. If anyone has solved this problem, please enlighten me. BTW, I have adjusted the in game Gamma without success. It changes, but not enough to make dark places remotely visible. And I don't mean the totally dark places where it is supposed to be invisible, but even shaded areas on maps with rain, are complete darkness. What is weird is that occasionally it is still dark even after I change Windows settings.
As for the crosshairs and all that, thanks very much Ten Yard and Rommel for posting such useful stuff about all this. I have not tried most of it, but it looks cool. On the rule violation issue, is there a way to have some sort of sight on your sniper rifle when it is not scoped? I know you can use the center of the screen that way, but I have real trouble lining anything up unscoped and it seems a little unrealistic. I mean, even if I wasn't looking in the scope, I should still be able to point in a general direction. Not zoomed, but at least some indication where it was pointed. Anyway, if there is such a sight and if it is not against the rules, I'd love to know about it.
Thanks,
FD |

Well I think that is considered cheating most of the time. Scoped guns are not very accurate at all when you are unzoomed, anyway. _________________
