Mobo's with intergrated sound and voice communication in DoD

Hey all, I've been playing DoD for a year sans a microphone, the main reason being that I have a mobo intergrated sound, and from what little I know on the subject...

mobo with intergrated sound + voice communication = garbbled mess

...should I bother buying a mic then? I want to be able to use teamwork more often than not, and voice communication is leagues and miles better than my poor typing skills, so should I bother to pick up a USB mic headset, or wait until I get myself a new tower (which I plan on financing through the sale of non-essential organs or bilking oldtimers out of their pension funds) to take the plunge with voice communication and grace you all with the dulcet tones of my voice?

I've got integrated sound and a mic... and I really don't know what it sounds like. Some people do say that they can't hear me... so I dunno. If I record my voice on my sound recorder it's really quiet. But I think if people have their mic options set properly they can hear just about anyone.

A decent PCI sound card is only about $50 CND or so. I'd get a mic/headset anyway and see if it works.

You can hear what you say by typing "voice_loopback 1" in your console.

ive never had any issues with the onboard sound on my mobo. i say use it and see how it works.

That would depend on your integrated sound. If you have an nforce 2 board I have been reliably told that they are full duplex and function fine. As it stands you can get yourself a cheap soundblaster live to replace your onboard sound if you have a pci slot free. Thats what I did before I got my nforce2 board.

yeah it wont hurt to try. you can get a decent mic for really cheap now anyway. if it doesnt work, then atleast if you upgrade you already have a mic.
