I personally think it would be funny if Bill Gates just yanked all Windows based OS off the shelves in Europe. Personally I'm sick of the EU and its antics. Talk about putting europe a huge step backwards if he did ever do it.

Cant you just get rid of the windows player? Like is it such a big deal? Does it really matter? Morons. And they say Americans and North Americans in general are stupid... I think that the EU is just pissed because it cant find any good way to develope for windows easily, prehaps they would rather try for another system? I heard that the old MAC OS is good. Prehaps Microsoft should pull all of their products from europe. or, prehaps make it so that all the serials that are there have become "expired" .

Boo frickety hoo, hits not THAT hard to develope for windows, trust me.

Or they can make the WindowsUE edition by Valve. Constant updates to ensure your computer is up to date with the latest brocken software.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Complaining that Microsoft Corp. has abused its "virtual monopoly power,"

WTF is a "virtual monopoly", so now you may or may not be a monopoly..but it seems like it...so "poof" you are a "virtual monopoly".

And while we are on that topic, I think I am going to sue Sprint for being the only phone company I can use..thats a "virtual monopoly".
And quest also because Medford only has them as that choice.
How about Charter.???..the only cable service in the area??? "virtual monopoly".
Oh and the Pacific Power..the only power company..."virtual monopoly"..

That is the most F'ing stupid thing I have ever heard of and I agree with Blown..pull the stuff and make them suffer...
Stupid Europeeeeeen socialists desirve it, you don't like free enterprise??? Then you are a communist........

I think they mean it this way:
Existing or resulting in essence or effect though not in actual fact, form, or name: the virtual extinction of the buffalo.

see http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=virtual for a bunch of other meanings.

Well think of it this way. What if you wanted long distance from at&t instead of sprint. Sprint gives away it's long distance 3 cents a minute, but sells access to it's lines to at&t for 4 cents a minute. Obviously, at&t can't comptete with sprint on price cause they(at&t) don't own the lines. So everyone uses sprint's long distance cause it's cheaper. It's similiar to what ms does with the bundling of their own stuff into the os and making it difficult for 3rd party stuff to install/work etc. It's more about the barrier to entry for their competitors than being the "only" software company.

Free enterprise and comptetition are great, as long as it's fair and the companies have equal access to the market. MS has already been convicted of anti trust violations in the US, so it was proven in a court that they didn't compete fairly and/or used their market position to unfairly bar entry to other companies.
