With sales of almost $259 billion — nearly a quarter of a trillion dollars wal-mart is my hero...when I grow up I want to be just like them...
how many pairs of socks is that?
Did you also read where China has started to impact Mexicos industries. The Mexicans are hard pressed to keep up with the cheap labor that china can provide. They are competing across the board, from shoes to camcorders. Jobs that were once secure are now being lost.
It would seem that we are not the only country where the jobs are flowing overseas. Some day I hope these things equal out. _________________ Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

Walmart is one if not the most sucessful company in U.S. history. Sam Walton started an amazing company and each of his children (he is dead now of course) are worth billions. Walmart was on of the few companies that when the stock market was going down Walmart stock went up and went up huge. Think about this way how many companies in the US are so hated by small businesses that when Walmart says they will come to your town small business has a fit.

Even if Wal-mart does have the best business, they are monopolizing it. They have no compition, I mean K-mart was there only rival really but now they are basically dead. Its just weird that they let wal-mart monopolize the markey.
I must say one thing it is great when you hear your world history teacher rant and rave about wal-mart _________________

I bet they find that person unfit to stand trial...
Dont worry, wal-mart will last as long as the company leaders dont get to greedy and when enough benifits and retirement allowances have built up as overhead. once they do they will jack the prices and that will give others a chance to move in. cycle of life _________________ Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. |

This is true. I heard it too. There was a TV commercial for a law firm here in MN suing Wal Mart in a class action law suit because Wal Mart didn't pay them all their wages. Wal Mart has lots of legal troubles. They've gotten in trouble for hiring a firm that uses illegal immigrants, they've locked cleaners in their stores overnight. A few towns in California are trying to stop Wal Mart's from opening up.
It sure is fun to put condoms in random peoples carts though. |

I hope you make sure to use the smallest size available
well in the long run I would think that having wal-mart would be a help to the employee. at some point they will say, Were going on strike, and if the ecomomic situation is right they will have to pony up _________________ Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. |

The only part that I disagree with is the part of taking jobs. Who the heck would leave a good paying job to work at wal-mart. Most will work there cause they have NO SKILL and need a min wage job. I swear, why do ppl with no skill seem to think they should be givin some sort of wage above minimum wage? Isn't that the reason we have a minimum wage law in the first place? As far as fighting the county for not letting them, well, I can understand that since we are probably going to end up sueing a local city here for some of the same sort of stuff. Its just big business and they want to get thier way. They are successful for a reason. I do agree, some of thier business practices are a little shady. |

a lot of times the smaller businesses go out of business when a wal mart comes to town. wal mart has a lot of stuff for cheap. people will go to wal mart for food and other stuff. taking business away from the smaller places. _________________
