I am often playing DoD and there are some really dark spots in there and it soooo hard for me to see anything half the time. Is there a way I like boost the gamma and brightness of the screen? I have the screen boosted all the way up, and supposedly steam is also but I still can't see worth anything. Anyone have any suggestions? _________________

There are controls in game which can modify the brightness and gamma of the game. ALso, most video cards can have their brightness and gamma adjusted in the display control panel. _________________

Yeah, this happened to me too when I got a flat screen monitor. I found that I have to go into the Windows Display under Control Panel and Choose the Setting tab. Then click Advanced.
This opens up my various controls for my ATI video card. I choose the Color tab and crank up the Gamma slider control way higher than it normally is.
Then I go into the game and things are normal looking. Sometimes, its a little washed out, but you can just play with the settings to find the right mix. If you don't have that tab, I'm sure there is a similar Gamma or brightness control in those settings.
Of course, you have to put back the setting when you finish playing, which is a pain, but it is the only way I have found that allows me to keep a decent looking screen while surfing and enough brightness while playing.
I used to adjust it with my monitor controls, but that meant having the brightness and contrast maxed out all the time, and that sucks when I am doing anything other than playing. Changing it with the software is better, although I wish it were just a one step thing instead of all those screens and clicks.
Good luck with it!

<EDIT> Yeah, like Shockwave said, there are controls in the game, but I had already tried those, and the Windows changes worked better for me. You should try a few things and find what works best for your system. </EDIT> |
