I have a wackload of lag in DoD when I join - about 1500. I know this ISNT right since I have a good VC and highspeed internet but how could I possibly reduce my lag to something reasonable? |

Are you sure you have ever application closed before you play? Kazaa, IE, MSN, AIM among other things can easily screw up your lag.
You may also want to check and see if Steam is downloading CS: CZ by checking the activity tab. Irregular lag (if your lag was reasonable before) is usally a product of other Internet processes occurring at the same time. |

in console type rate. Usually for broadband 7500-10000 is a good number
cl_updaterate 20-40 play with it little by little.
Rate will make the biggest impact, steam decided that everyone should have crappy rate settings a while back. Tons of ppl had crap pings cause of it. |

Yeah that helps a little, but you should still probably tweak out your rates until everything is perfect. If that doesn't help, then I don't know. _________________

Hmm my ping is about 57 now but I still get massive lag spikes when I fire, when a point is captured and when I enter into a large scale conflict between both sides.... |

I have my rate at 8900 seems to work good for DSL also might want to check and see if your Vsync is off to see if that helps and what VC do you have if it is a ATI as sugetsed to me by Blown make sure your ATI npatch is set to 0 in your consol. _________________ <eVa>Simpleman-V$=<RIP> |

It seems that I get lag wheneer I play when theres about 15+ players on the server... I dunno why this is, with a couple it works fine but once the player count gets high I get alot of lag... Anyone know how to fix this? |

Same here. I usually ping aboot 60 to 80 but my FPS runs a constant 8 to 16. Mostly all system lag. With aboot 12 - 14 peeps on a server, I can actually play. Any more than that and I couldn't fight my way out of a paper bag.
Tips for playing on lower end systems;
Lurk instead of Rambo.
Focus soley on capping flags by lurking and hiding.
Avoid confrontaion by sniping or MG'ing FPS are increased by standing still.
That's what I do! _________________ Recipient of POTM award

Bah, I moved recently and my connection isn't nearly as good (I get 14.0 KB/sec downloads :\ ). I've also noticed that few players present in a server will give me not necessarily better ping numbers - just better hit detection and less lag. Well, I guess it fluctuates more when there are more players.
Is there anything I can do since my specs are fine (1.5 Ghz 512 RAM 64 GPU) but my connection is basically the worst broadband on Earth? I've dropped about .10 off of my K : D since moving, I'm quite saddened by it. |

The only computer hardware that should have much of anything to do with your ping is your NIC or Modem depending on your internet connection. |
