I have a problem on my computer. Since yesterday my computer has been freezing up when I start it for the first time. I can open things, but they don't do anything. Like I can open IE, but it never loads a page. I also noticed that the Norton thing gets disabled.

When this happens I just go to restart the computer. When it is shutting down, it says that ccApp.exe is not reponding and stuff. After I click End Task it starts logging off. It takes forever to log off then it just goes to a blue screen. It just stays there until I hold down the power button to shut down manually. When I boot it up again, it loads just fine and everything is as if nothing ever happened.

I think this ccApp.exe is causing this and it is part of Norton. Has anyone else ever had any problems with Norton and, if so, how do I fix it?

I just installed it this weekend. Maybe I'll reinstall. It just took so long. How would I update my bios?

i wouldnt update bios until you have no other options. id reinstall windows first. bios updates dont always go smoothly, and when they dont, you have to send motherboard in for repair, or order a new bios chip (not too expensive, just a hassle.

This sounds like what was roughly happening to my computer a few days ago. If you start to recieve a massive amount of error messages when you start to log off/shutdown then you have the same problem that I had. Youll probably have to reformat, since I believe that it was a virus that had attacked my anti-virus program (McAfee). It would also explain Norton be constantly turned on/off for you.

Well it didn't do it today. Hopefully it fixed itself. How, I don't know, maybe a Steam bug.

My other computer was FUBAR so I unplugged it and through into the spare room. Well my son has been bugging to fix it so I hooked it up and it runs perfect now go figure after 2 weeks of messing with it tring to figure out what was wrong with it I gave up and sent it to the junk pile for a couple months and now it's all better.

yea the ccApp.exe gave me some problems too i think it just happens sometimes i used to just get where i start up and no programs will start and when u shut down it takes forever to end ccApp. but i havent been having that fer over 5 months now. id try updating your anti virus if its not. andi guess it eventually goes away.

Check out this update available from MS. It is not a criticle update so if you run windows update it will be listed in the second group of available updates.

Update for Windows 2000 (KB820888)
Download size: 459 KB, < 1 minute
When you restart your computer, you may find that the computer stops responding (hangs) when it tries to mount a volume that is formatted with the NTFS file system. Download this update to help resolve the issue. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer
