Ever since I downloaded the second most recent Active Shield/virus scan update Ive been getting a ton of errors from McAfee. Active Shield will randomly freeze my computer and then doenst start up right the next time that I use the computer, I recieve numerous errrors from everything in my system tray, etc when I attempt to shut down and so forth. I dont really understand why this is, Ive scanned the comp for viruses, etc. Tonight Im going to run a full scan disk and defrag (since it takes about 8 hours to do so on my computer even though I only have about 8 gigs of data on the HD). I dont understand why this is, and I especially dont like how its happening more often then not. Anyone know what might be causing all these problems?

Did you check for more updates? I guess if nothing works, you can reinstall it.

Sigh. Remember when anti-virus programs used to be just that?

Now Mcafee and Norton, etc have to be these big, bloated, "security" suites which fark up your comp more often than not.

Sorry Potato, not sure what the problem is. I suggest reinstalling.

Personally I use f-prot because all it does is anti-virus in a small, non-resource hogging interface.

id say uninstall then reinstall something else. ive NEVER liked McAfee. takes forever to scan my inbox when i load up outlook (about 45 seconds....not my fault its only a 1.5gig file). norton has no problem at home with my 2+gig inbox...only like 15 seconds max. if you want norton PM me and ill get you it.

oh yeah, to defrag my whole computer takes about 14 hours.....except i have 2 20GB hd's, a 213gb, a 447gb raid disk, and a 233 one. 90% full too overall. its not the size of the files really, just how many there are. you could have 10,000 300byte files and thats going to take longer than 1,000 3 meg files.

hey i have the same problem.. but i figured out how to fix it on my comp.. dunno if this works on yours.. but do crt+alt+del .... and look for "slass.exe" there should be only 1.... but if you see 2 .. the second should be at the bottem of list... end that one... hopefully it should fix the problem... it works for me.. and my comp works fine...

Aahh I had the same problem with it I unistalled all of it and only d/l virus scan and firewall all the other free stuff that they give you totally screws up your comp. this is straight from one of there techs so if you d/l the privacy thing and I forget what the other was(spam stopper or something I do believe) get rid of them and everything should work fine.
