If you've noticed that:
1) Your ping is retarded (200-2000)
2) The Steam icon in your system tray is the 'uploading' icon as opposed to the 'working' icon.
What's happening is Steam is uploading Counter-Strike: Condition Zero onto your computer from FilePlanet. You still have to pay for it in order to activate it, it's $30 bucks... so it's not like you're getting anything free.
So, after about five reboots, two uninstalls and re-installs of Steam, one new account, one windows restore I FINALLY FIGURED OUT WTF Steam was doing. It wouldn't even let me play on TV I for some GOD KNOWS WHAT reason, I was seriously pissed.
You see, when you automatically upload crap onto people's computers - they need to know. Don't try to sneak it on there, how was I supposed to know something was downloading on my computer without my permission? Jeez. So watch out.
What you need to do is go on your Games list, right click on CS: CZ and click "stop preloading" - especially if your connection isn't extremely fast. |

It didn't ask me if I wanted to preload, it just did on its own. |

I was never asked if I wanted to preload CZ or not, bu mine still hasn't started to preload itself either. Ahh, the glories of accomplishing nothing _________________

Thanks for the warning mine was sitting at 96%. How frikken dare those steam assholes load anything without permission which I had not given them. In the past some regulars here have endorsed steam as being next to god. Well this more or less tells me that they to think they are god. I just want to know whom I see to start the legal proceedings _________________

Now that I think about it, preloading CZ on to people's computers is a bad idea. Hackers are going to find a way to bypass any security they placed on it, and presto! Free game for them. _________________

I think that was asking if you want to preorder, not preload. Anyway, that should be illegal to do things like that. _________________
