Steam (format/re-install) HELP!! :P

Hey all,

Long time no seen =)

Been a while since i showed my self here.. not been playing so much.
But now i was thinking to start playing again, and i cant get it to work

My problem:

I formated my computer, re- installed steam. Now when i via steam trie to install HL etc. it ask's for my cd-key... and it says its already in use!!!! and im using the same account as before.

Anyone had the same probelm or have a solution to this problem??

All help is appreciated!! =)

I dont think you have to install HL once youve installed steam?

Are you trying to make a new account or using your old one? You can't use the same CD Key on another account I don't think. Make sure you are using your original account.

Well, i do!

(unless i missed something)

In steam under games i see all the available games, but i cant play, then i have to chose what games to install. (right klick/install). and thats when i get the problem with the cd-key

But i guess that i could have installed HL first and installed steam after, letting steam inport the files from the HL installation, but that shouldnt be nessesary... unless there still is a bug in steam when doing it this way. but i have talked with other ppl that have done it the way im tying to do, without any probelms

and im guessing that if i install HL first i will get the same problem with steam/ the cd-key.

Yes, i am using the original account. thats why i think its so strange.

I have seen tones of posts on steams's forum, but most or all of them are related to new accounts lost pass etc.. nothing about my problem.. atleast not what i have found

Well try installing HL before Steam and see if it makes a difference.
