digital type camera or old analog style.

digital would be the easy way.

analog will require a vid card that can do inputs like vivo type cards. Most vid cards are out only and dont do video capture. If this would be you you might wanna look into buying a product called dazzle. Supposed to work nicely.

If it is a digital camcorder, you will need a firewire IEEE 1394 port(Cards are about $20) and lots of disk space.

60 minutes of video takes over 13GB of disk space. Of course you'll need some software to edit it an such like Adobe premire or pinnacle.

I've used Dazzle a few times, but you will have very low quality when you record it to your computer from what I've seen.

I have a little experince with this. If you are using a Hi8, 8mm, VHS, or VHSc camera you will need a analog video capture device such as a Dazzle external USB device. This will import your video but it will be of low quality and may have some audio issues. I recommend a internal video capture card from Canopus or Matrox.
If you are using a Digital 8, or Mini DV camera you need a firewire connection and some video editing software. For VERY simple operations you can use Windows Movie Maker 2. Windows XP Professional is the best OS for capture because it will reconize your camera right away with no drivers to load. I reccommend Sony Vegas Video 4 for editing. I use it in my professional buisness and made The Ville Promo video with it.
