iva had my card, FX5200 now for about 5/6 weeks... has been running fine up untill last night, except for a few stupid xp crashes a week or so ago.

anyway what happened was that all of a sudden my tower started makin a hell of a racket.. n i got a lil concerned... as its never done it before. so i opened it up to see what it was..

and sure enough its the fx 5200... the fan on there was quiet as a mouse till yesturday.. now its making sooo much noise.. and its vibrating my card somthing cruel. and i havnet got a clue why.

anyone know what could be up.

hope someone will kow whats up..

thanks

bobs.

I had something similar happen wih my fx 5600. I simply replaced the cheap crappy OEM fan with a nice new pretty (With flashy lights!). I think what actually happened is that the crappy fan got off balance, and the blades started hitting the grill, which caused a blade to break off, which caused more of an imbalance, etc. etc. etc. ad nauseum. I would definitely replace the fan, and soon, as a hosed fan could damage your card if it gets hot due to less cooling power.

i did have a look at it earier.. and it did look like it was closer to the gill heat sink on the one side...

how much, where from and what type = best... plz.. lol

i ahvent got a clue.. lol.

it probably is that. i dont see what else it could be. and since you've already had it happen... its still under gaurantee if the fan does love it up... but i would prefer not to have the hastle.. so will replace it.. if i can afford to.

cheers for info Azr

Your best bet would be to just exchange it for the same one. I'm sure this is not something that is common. Just take the card back and get a replacement.

This one is similar to the one I have, and should fit your card, as well as your budget. I have the Pro (which is the same price and everything, but I'm not sure it would fit right on your card)

IceberQ 4

The one I have works very well, I haven't had any problems with it, other than having to drill new holes, since it wasn't designed to fit my card.

Of course you could just go with a heat pipe, which is about the same price, maybe a little cheaper. It is 100% quieter (No moving parts), of course they are larger than your average fan.

you drilled new holes geeze..

lol

well i got in contact with the makers and checked which would fit before i got it. and the pro is for the ultra card or somthing you should of got the nromal vantec and that would of fitted. heeh. dam i wouldnt of wanted to drill knew holes.

i got the iceberq though. got the non pro version whcih is the one that would fit. and my cards been running like a dream.. have enven been able to oc it..

i havent pushed it too far, this being hte first time ive ever oc'd a card before though id just take it up a lil bit and maybe ina while i might take it up some more. lol.

what i did to though gained me an extra hundred or so points on the 3dmark03 benchmark.
