I am sad to say that you may not be owning me or my friends at [Focus] for a while. We, all work for the same company, and the main office just implemented some new security features to our system network. Since I'm a computer dummy, my office computer guy used a cute story to explain why I can't hook up to internet games: "Well little goon, we turned off the faucet that allowed you to flow into the your online game." They also turned off our internet radio 'faucet' too.
Since this is just a test, you guys might be fragging us again tommorow... but if the system works, we may never frequent the 'Ville again. If that happens, I would like to say on behalf of [Focus] to all of you Villun's that it's been a blast to play with/against all of you. The 'Ville servers are the classiest of 'em all.
So in the meantime, don't you worry about us - To get our Half-Life fixes, we've got smartass bots to play with, and we plan on re-introducing ourselves to CS and Firearms through LAN games.
Happy fragging folks |

Assuming it's not against your company policy to play Half-Life on business equipment, let me know if you really can't play after the firewall is in place. There are lots of ways to defeat them assuming your network admin hasn't made drastic changes to the network routing. Then again if it's not against company policy, go back to your manager and have them open up access! |

Hee-Hee, Omega, since the weather where I am is well below 0 Farenhiet, I have no desire to go outside until spring. Work is all I have now!
Thanks for the tip Warhammer. It is not against policy to play games on our 'puters, we are free to do anything we want as long as it doesn't affect our work, or offend others. Since our local systems guy is a bit of a 'newb', he barely knows anything about the change, since it was all done in our main office. But there are a few online gamers here with more 'clout' than myself, and when they get sick of LAN games, I'll use your advice and let them know what should be done. Fight the power we will!

Aw, Thanks Bada.... I'm sure you will miss us, since we're a bunch of easy frags eh?
We'll miss you, and every other 'Ville regular, while we start a non-violent fight to get back to the violence!
P.S. I just figured out how to convert Celsius to Farinhiet for you 'mericans: it is minus 10 degrees Farinhiet here, Yikes! Taking a leak outside can be a dangerous thing to do! That said, I'm just going sit in my office and try out the half-life single player game (to get that Half-life fix) while I wait to pick up my girlfriend at work.
Goodnight!

Hope you guys come back soon! If there's one thing I've learnt over the years, it's that the Network Admin is always your best friend! And most of them are pretty cheap too! A candy bar or a cheap lunch is all you need for them to open up their ports to you... hmmm, waitaminute, that didn't sound right...

Uhhhh, gee munkeyeye thanks for the info, maybe flowers would help too - Aw nuts, our admin is male (aaaand presumably not gay). He's quite a decent guy, he tried to help us out, but no luck, it's apparently all controlled at the main office. But I'll take your advice, and maybe buy him a bigass box of Timbits! Perhaps that might help him open his *ahem* ports to us.

Wow Im impressed that you guys can play games at work, how big is your network?? I know i can beat the firewall here at work but even if I do the Network Engies know. We are on a Global Network and big brother is always watching. Just another case of the man sticking it to me.

Thanks Sully, we are FOCUSING extremely hard on getting back to the 'Ville battle field, but with no luck yet.
ASSASSIN: Apparently, the man has stuck it us to! It is definatly a cool company though, despite us getting cut off from online gaming, they still allow us to LAN it up!
-I noticed a few posts about bringing CS to the 'Ville, and CS was shunned. I agree, CS on the net sucks! But I've been having some 3 on 3 LAN games using small maps, and It's been quite fun, mainly because the rounds end quick, and since I know everyone on the server, I know there are no cheaters.
-I also figured out how to run pigstats (It was easy to configure and customize, which is a surprise since I am a bit of a computer dummy) for our LAN games to provide us with somewhat crude stats compared to HLstats. Although none of us are statwhores, we are enjoying fighting for awards for 'best with weapon'
-One last note: The best part of CS LAN games is killing an enemy friend (yes that is a bit of a paradox), picking up his weapon and 'KEELING HIM WIT HEEES OWN GUN, YEAH!'
P.S. If I ever get back to Online Gaming, I promise, I'll be playing TF, NOT CS.
{edit}WTF??? why am I 'Pro', I can't even PLAY!?!?!?!? ....OOOOOH, I get it.... 50+ posts.
