They are all different everywhere.

I had a couple run ins with the law in the past couple months and I thought I would share some of this with you.

1. Valid Address on your ID. This is the law in Texas. If the address on your ID is not your current address, you can be fined $95. I was pulled over for speeding. Which I was. The cop then asked me if my address was current. I said "no". Huge mistake. He wrote me a ticket for $95 for failure to change my address. He said you have 30 days to change it when you move. I hadn't changed my ID since I got back from college! The cop said, "if something happens to you, we have to know where you live". What if I lived alone? I paid the speeding ticket and immediately changed my ID address online. I refused to pay the $95. The Justice of the Peace then threatened to issue a warrant for my arrest if I refused to pay. Yeah, I can see it now. A jail cell full of drunk drivers, theives, wife beaters, batterers, and. . .me. . the bad address guy. So, I wonder. . .shouldn't being homeless be illegal by that rationale? Being homeless is not illegal in Texas but not having a valid address is.

2. Some friends and I were fishing at a local lake. The game wardens "pulled us over" lol. We had 2 life vests and 3 people in the boat. The 2 life vests were locked up below the deck. Padlocked. We were ticketed for not having a 3rd vest. Now, why would it be legal to not wear and lock up your vests? In the middle of a wreck, you are going to unlock the vests and dish them out? That's silly. Either make it illegal to not wear one or have no law at all. That is just silly to me. You might as well make it legal to not wear a helmet on a motorcycle but then fine people for not having one on board!!!! To beat all, we only caught a friggen turtle.

While I appreciate police officers and respect their job. I find some of the laws they enforce to be an ignorant waste of time and tax payers $. If you had a choice, would you pay to jail an upstanding member of society because they had a bad address on their ID? You do now.

I can kinda see why this is like this. Most boating accidents I have seen or dealt with there was more than enough time to hand out life jackets before the boat went down. The one that there wasnt enough time to hand out life jackets all the people were cut into 2 to 5 large peices and the LJ's would not have helped.
