HL 1109 update: good, bad or just plain ugly?

hey ive heard that valve is comgin out wiht yet another update for hl, hopefully dogin something about the cheating...are all the updates a pesky annoyance or a vital thing for bringing new life to the game? i think theyve brought some good stuff, and are no problem for my download speeds, but some people i know think they are ridiculously large and just open up more holes for exploiting...i think tis definately time valve stepped in with dogin someting about the cheating epedemic that has run rampant on way too many servers...what do you think?

Well, cheating isn't really rampant here. In fact I can't remember the last time I thought I died as a result of someone cheating. As for playing on the vast majority of other servers out there? There will always be cheating on those servers no matter what update you have. Someone will always find a way to cheat. Just like someone will always find a way to be a Llama.

The next update will not have anti-cheat code in it. But it is being worked on and tested. Valve is serious about stopping it too, it just takes a little time.

Although The Ville does not have a lot of cheaters! There will always be your Ghost_Fighter's who seem to get by unnoticed. I could be wrong though.

There are more cheaters than you think there are around. We catch 10-20 a day and I'm pretty sure some slip through the cracks.

No software is safe from the hack,crack.HL is no exception.Although the patches as they came out did slow the process it didnt stop it.There is NO way to stop ALL the cheating,Just no way it cannot be done.Their best bet is not to try an stop the cheating by modifying the game through patches but to develope more strict anti-cheat software that detects the cheats.The software theville has in place is some of the best that can be used now a days.I figure through testing theville should be able to tell what their software is and is not picking up.

There are plenty of cheaters here and on other servers too.I personally am sick of hws who kill me as a spy at full health in 1 second.You know who you are and you suck.To use autoaim as any class is cheap but as a hw you are simply put a low life scumbag.

Nice 3dMark2001 scores PondScum007!
I managed a 6767 with my P4 1.5 with a G3.
This is my first intel chip since.... I started using the AMD around 200Mhz. This was just too cheap though. I like your web page too it is clean and the graphics show up nice against your dark background.

Robert are those the ones getting caught by the software?

i think we might be thinking a bit one dimensional. there is a ton more cheating in counterstrike. TFC doesn't really have that much and its usually pretty obvious. i imagine they are gearing the next version more to stop CS cheating.

Yes the software catches them Roof..

Well the thing is that if the cheats work for CS, 9 times out of ten they'll work for TFC. You would be surprised.. Little things like wall hacks and aimbots can go a long way without other players detecting them.

I have not seen anything new as far as cheats that are obvious like one that lets you have
Noclip and are able to Cap and stuff. What I have noticed,and I am all that sure if Lag was a factor at all, but going up to a class such as a sniper and stabbing them directly in the back 2 or 3 times, only to have them spin around and kill me

I have stabbed a HW 4 times in the back not killing him along with others that should of died.

i tell ya boyyoos cheating is an ugly thing to run into, in cs, its running mad, its like cheating is ebola,and cs is africa, if you get my drift,it sucks so much. but i'm glad to have stumbled apon this server i feel safe, warm cosey in my cocoon of blankets and computer. mmmmmmmmmm
