Stats: How do they effect you?

the "player ranking" stats are silly, they dont mean a thing..i think the daily awards and cumulative one are quite fun though.. the llama-freeness is definaely a strong point of playing here...i started hanging out on TV servers a little over a month ago and have been addicted to the goodness of this place...one of the main things that turned me off from quake3 online and q3fortress was that too many people were jsut unlpeaasant to play with and generaly be around, and noone was at all hospitable to n00bs..not to sterotype or generalize but i foudn the HL "crowd" was alot more welcoming to new people, that was 2 years ago...i guess this is all saying one thing... THE VILLE ROCKS!

I play here because it's fun. It's the only place where I can have fun and drive buses and practice all with a bunch of happy and nice people who also enjoy playing the game and having fun. And there's no llamas, no cheaters.

Statistics are cool, but I think the daily awards are way better. I like to win the "crowbar swinging idiot" award because that’s me, a crowbar swinging idiot!!! Though other awards are cool to win because it shows ownage on his/her behalf. But really I think stats interrupt a person's game play. People that want/need to be number one try to be extra careful while playing on theville. I play with a "kill or be killed" type of mentality. Don't let the stats get in your way while playing on theville. Play for fun and play fair. Cheaters never win and stat hogs never play with their fullest potential!!!

I randomly came across a The Ville server, saw "see your real time stats" flashed, and I decided I'd see how I stack up... after not having some spy drop a gas grenade into a spawn room, no idiot holding the flag in the spawn room, and seeing my usual kill ratio drop dramatically (quality opponents), I decided I'd stay. I like stats, and it's a good way to measure yourself, but I think the quality players and no cheap crap made me stay more than the stats.

You know what really bugs me the most about stats? People always arguing about them. I am just sick of hearing the word stat! Bah there it is again! Stat. AH! They have been tainted and will not be clean again for some time. My playing here has nothing to do with the stat (ah there it is again!) system. Never has never will. I play here because I like to play fair. I like to pop into a game and recognize people.

I come here because the regulars, clan affiliated or not, are all friends and treat each other with respect. At least we try. . .hehehe

I liked the ownage chart (which mysteriously disappeared right after frag had been in the top 20 on mine for 3 consecutive weeks

) and I thought the single player stats were decent. I just want kills to be cumulative instead of just weekly. Maybe we could see who has the most frags by the end of the YEAR. w00000000000t. Just a thought.
