some people have said (not here) that if would could in THEORY take the exact location and velocity of every subatomic particle (or whatever the smallest finite amount of matter actually is) we could predict the future by theoretically showing all interactions between all the sub atomic particles and see how it ends up. great in theory and all, but it has been shown that the exact same sub atomic particle under the exact same conditions will not respond in exactly the same way. there is, for example, a 50% chance that a subatomic particle will shoot out a gamma ray at a 45% angle, and a 50% chance it will do the same at a -45% angle. not actual numbers at ALL, but the fact remains that the way a particle/subatomic particle reactions cannot be accurately predicted. enter schrodingers cat. *meow*
(i had a decription of the experiement but just realized n0g0d already linked it. read it)
is this odd? yes. the point of me bringing this seemingly random experiment up is that if there are other universes out there that are created at every probability junction (i.e. 1-the atom decays or 2-the atom doesnt decay) there are a near infinite amount of parallel univereses out there describing every possible outcome, but by the simple fact that an observed cat can not be both alive and dead, there can not be any communication whatsoever between these universes (otherwise we could have the same cat alive and dead). therefore if there are other universes, but we cant communicate, for all intents and purposes they dont exist. |

gravity is not a force, we are just resisting the urge to fall due to other atoms being in our way. so how do they make it? _________________ Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. |

yes it is a force. it is a force between two bodies of matter (in this case, the earth and us).
the 4 fundamental forces:
1) gravity
2) electromagnetic
3) strong
4) weak.
what you are talking about is the normal force...the earth stopping us from falling. try jumping out of a plane and tell me there isnt a force bring you and the earth closer. F=ma....force=mass*acceleration. we all know you have mass...and when you jump out of a plane, you have acceleration. therefore there is a force. where do you think it comes from? gravity. |

It looks like I'll have some good reading for this upcoming week. Thanks Jfet.
My favorite books about Cosmology are Stephen Hawking's two most popular books. "Brief History of the Universe." and "The Universe in a Nutshell."
And If you like Stephen Hawking, listen to him rap at

E=mc hawking and Entropy are my personal favorite songs |

ok heres one thing i remember from my astronomy class last semester that is that theyTHINK that the universe has an ande and a begining(i.e. big bang starting point) but as for the end/edge of the universe is scattered with new nebulas and quasars u can tell that they are the farthest because they have the greatest blue shift(or might be red shift i forget which is which ) but anyways on the other side of the universe is (forget what my teach calles it but ill call it nospace ) well anyways in nospace is the only place u can have absolute 0 but u can not actually touch nospace because of the space around u( the atoms around u give off heat{however little heat it is it still stops u from experiancing absolute 0})
as for why i dont eat this stuff up anymore well thats simple i lost my life and havent found it yet once i do ill start to study more and play less dod and ns..yeah like that will happen
but thanks for the books i just finished all my books and need some new reading material...maybe ill ask for some books on my b-day
well thats my 2 cents and now im off to play a little dod or ns _________________

our universe is everything that is. if it exists, its part of the universe. if it doesnt exist, then its not. yes, the universe ends. it started at a point then with the big bang began expanding at the speed of light. whats on the other side? well, two answers. 1) nothing and 2) we could never get there to find out since the universe is expanding at the speed of light and we can only travel at MAX the speed of light....it got a head start on us so we cant catch it. the universe isnt infinite, but approaches it. at any one point in time, there is a finite volume to the universe. i.e. it is finite with no end.
some theories say that the universe has so much mass that it wills top expanding, and start contracting to end in the big crunch. others say that it will continue expanding forever. there is a 3rd theory, however. one that states the universe will stop expanding to become a finite size after an infinite amount of time. yes, this still sounds like it is expanding forever, but there is a difference. either way, we (as humans) probably wont be around anywhere near long enough to see that...let alone to see our own sun die out. |

| There is a theory (not really a scientific one) that suggests the reason why we have not met an advanced civilization because anytime a civilizatioin is capable of producing nuclear weapons they kill themselves off. We have yet to see if this theory holds to be true on our planet. This will be a hard theory to disproove, at least in our lifetime. |

So the universe does have an end, but it keeps moving a the highest possible speed so you can't get to it. That make sense. And the other universes are in different dimentions that humans can't see. _________________
