anyone here have a matrox parhelia card? i have one and absolutely love it, except once steam came out (which was right around the time i reformatted computer) my fps went super low. ive been blaming it on steam being poop, but i found out i get the EXACT same frame rate (~15-20) if i play in 640x480 mode all the way up to 1600x1200, so i know the card can handle something higher than 20fps in 640x480. im starting to think its something more than just steam. ive looked all over matrox's forums, and tried all the drivers, i think. just wanted to see if anyone has this card and/or has had issues with it.

Steam seemed to be more cpu bound than the old WON system. When I changed from won to steam my fps dropped in half. I then got a cpu upgrade (got rid of my tbird and OC'ed a tbred-b to 2GHz). I run 60fps constantly. It looks like somewhere in the settings the max fps barrier is set too low.

2.4ghz P4. not a cpu problem (also task manager shows dod never goes above 45% cpu). 1.5gb ram. not a memory problem. i have tested fps_modem and fps_max at about every possible option.

Ive raised both my fps_modem and fps_max and I cant get the darn thing over 60. I used to get 72 before steam borked D3D rendering and made me switch to OGL to use 1024x768 resolution.

I don't have one but i deal with alot of them at work! they weren't really made for gaming, they were mainly made for users (mainly stock traders) that have duo or more monitors! Becareful with this card, if you move and plug the wrong monitor into the wrong head, your will expreince some hell of a problem. I've seen alot of this problem especially with the G450 model. Also, this card has alot of problems with any other video drivers you may have installed on your pc!

Make sure your monitor is set higher than 60hz. There are issues in XP and many patches to alleviate this problem.

yeah, very true. i do video editing so i have 2 pimpin flat screen crt's (im not an lcd fan) and the 3rd output goes to my tv so i can do realtime previews of my work (works great for making dvd menus too). i used to get pretty damn good fps before, so i KNOW my computer and card can handle at least decent fps. abotu the wrong monitors switched...yeah, that does cause alot of issues. this is also the only video card ive had in this machine.

yeah, i just found out a way to make sure that it is set higher than 60hz when i play games (since i run at a lower res for games, it was never easy to set my refresh rate.)
