Ok i created a server yesterday just to see if i could do it.i found i could join it but noone else seemed to come. Ive been playing as {pfg}jack the homeless and i wanted to make a clan server, but noone ever comes. i asked my friend to look for it but he could not see it in the tf 1.5 launcher. It says its a won auth server but it never seems to work. I have a Linux IP Tables firewall. I dont think thats the problem though. My dad opened up port 27015 but noone still joins. I have a pentium 3 566 but i have a ton of ram (like over 300) and i have a geforce 2 3d card. Im also running off a cable modem.I also keep getting this message when i first open the server program before i run a map: Warning: UDP_Opensocket:port 27015 then a bunch of gibberish. I have 27015 running udp packets so i cant see whats wrong with that. If anyone could help me please reply to this. Also the server is {PFG} Clan Server and the address is 192.168.1.3:27015. Please if i need to open up any more ports or anything tell me. I know you guys are masterminds at servers because the ville is nice so i know there has to be somethin. Also anyone that reads this and doesnt know how to help me, please go to my server and play there if you cant see it tell me here. Thanks for your time i know that was alot to read but i really would like an answer. Thanks again.

I believe that there are more ports that need to be open to send data to the client, but I do not know what they are. |

hello,
One other port you will have to open is 27005, as that is what the server uses to send data back to players (from what I remember).
Secondly, if this server has a 192.168.*.* IP, nobody on the Internet is going to be able to access it. That is an IP address that is assigned by a router of some kind. You'll have to post what your actual, real IP address is so people can connect.
Hope this helps,
MRE

use winipcfg.exe in your Run option to see your true IP. |

winipcfg only gives his router assigned IP. I had that problem last semester with my cable modem/router combo. His actual IP can be found if he connects to the Ville. This was the only way I was able to see my actual IP last semester. You can try connecting directly to your cable modem, and that should give you your actual IP address.

MRE hit the nail on the head, no one can connect using the 192.168.x.x address. Somewhere down the line a router (maybe your cable modem) is transforming that IP into a different IP address on the outside of their network. You'll have to go to a web site that can tell you your IP to find out what your IP is on the outide.

Wow. you guys really helped me out. Thanks a whole lot for all the info and helping me find my ip address. Also do i need to configure my server program to use my actual ip or can i just leave it go? Either way thanks my ip is 12.226.1.0:27015. Go to my server later on when you guys get a chance and tell me if it works now. Sorry for the trouble and Thank you.

Where did you find your IP address? That looks like an internal IP.
