| I know Saddam has killed and tortured people but not nearly to the extent of other dictatorships. That is the reason why i said massive amounts of people. To say that Castro hasn't killed anyone to keep his regime going is just blind. But i see how what i said before can be looked at as stupid. Personally, if I lived under one of those regimes i wouldn't speak out against him, I'd just find a way to get out of there with my life to a better country. that's just me though. |

I would stay and fight. Its my home after all. I got into an arguement with a Venezuelan about all the republican Venezuelans that have fled their homes to come to America in the past couple of years. It was over some article that talk about these ex-pats petitioning our Government to help them against Chávez. He felt it was fine for them to flee to get help. I said you mean "come to America for the easy life and get us to fight your battles right? While leaving other people to their fate." I know that Chávez is not a complete dictator in the sense, but give him time. I could understand if you personally choosing to flee to exile when being hunted. But a mass exit of similar thinking people is cowardice in my book. Evidently they didn't care about Venezuela that much, if they chose to start a new life here. But each to his own. |

i can see only 2 reasons for not staying and fighting the
first is when u are being hunted down like in the holocaust(dont know if i spelled it right)
second is if u have a family to look after if there is one thing i think a child should never have growing up is a life without there parents because of some a$$hole trying to use fear to control a country...bah i didt it again _________________

if you want to get in a debate about Castro then ill let my girl friend speak...she will shut you down...why will she shut you down simple...her grand parents escaped Castro...had their house taken by Castro...had their lives taken by Castro and barely got out of Cuba.

In serving for the cause of my country. I best serve by serving. Being dead or alive is irrelevant. If I die then I made the ultimate sacrifice. If I am alive then I was lucky or a coward. More likely lucky.
I don't think the situation in Venezuela has advanced enough there to warrant leaving, yet. There is still amply opportunity to forment organized opposition. As far as dead or alive. If your dead at least YOU made the ultimate sacrifice for your cause. What is the worth of a cause if you are still alive, in some other country, trying to get somebody else to fight your cause for you. If you want to forment opposition from abroad, then fine. My problem is fleeing then expecting somebody else to make the bad man go away and make life all comfy. At least the Cubans made an attempt with us screwing them over. In Cuba its different. You have a full blown dictator, where as Chavez could fall any day. Could fall/reform sooner if the opposition would organize, instead of fleeing or staying disorganized. In the Cuban situation I would still stay, but that would be my choice.
As I had stated previously if you as an individual are being persecuted then fleeing to fight another day is an option. Getting your family to a safe area is also ok. But I would feal a lesser person for not taking an active part in my belief/cause. I guess it was the way I was raised. Try it yourself first then ask for help afterwards. Accomplishing goals on your own or in a group is much more rewarding. Also gives oneself a sense of appreciation for what you have. |
