Well, that is a tempting idea, but I think that this 'motion' should not be entirely an overreaction to some ppl's game play. Don't get me wrong, I have seen how certain players have basically 'point hogged' all night without once fighting for the team. I know how frustrating it can be when you don't have all of your team behind you during key moments.
But I like to see how crappy I have done and who the most obnoxious bastage to kill me the most times(maybe even more times than I have suicided)was for the evening or the week.
Therefore, I propose a solution to the Mayor and the rest of the City Council for review:
1. Initialize stats on certain days of the month, rather than an entire week. Maybe over the weekend once a month.
2. Focus on the Awards for each of the 49 weapons(thats what we are up to now right?) and so forth. That way you only get a short period of potetial 'point hogs'.
3. Put the stats on one server. I mean there are only so many ppl that can join, i.e. 22 or 26 max players, thus if you run the stats one weekend of the month on say...just for retorical purposes, on TV1 a non-neo stats run, then next month have a neo stats run on TV2, and so on and so forth...
This is my proposal, take it or leave it, but I just wanted to give you my two cents worth since the voting column on the front page doesn't allow for fence sitters like me!

Another thing I thought of while responding to some other post about stats is, what if the Top 5 skill players were not listed on the main page? Or anywhere for that matter, but the listing was of all players ranked solely upon number of kills, because that is what matters anyway. Not your kill to death ratio, or the amount of times you cap the flag in a game full of llama n00bs who couldn't stop you if they tried.
How many people you actually mow down is what I think should be looked at, and aspired to instead. I know there are many players who spend much more time online playing, but that is a choice they make. Most of the players I consider really good, are ones who dominate in sheer numbers, not skill points or low death rate. They are the ones who deserve to be at the top. IMHO

If it is over how many people you kill CyCoDad would win every week, and then we would call him a "statwhore". I think what Rob is currently doing is possible the correct thing. Stats are not going away. You can see how many kills you have/deaths/suicides. You can view the people you have killed more than X amount of times.
It would be nice to see who killed you more than x times. Anyway the Weapon awards are nice and give some people something to compete in. The others can tak it or leave it.
Jcom, I think it is now at 42, with all of neo-tf enable. Right now, however, there are a few that have been turned off.
The only thing that is gone is an order of who is on top due to points. That is really it.
Maybe it would be an idea to have a list of all players who play in alphebetical order. Then you could easily view peoples stats, but not rank. |

Thanks for noticing Hamese, There have been very few weeks since I discovered that they kept stats at the ville, that I couldn't click on the kills column, just to see me #1 in something I suppose I could click the death column and get the same results but it wouldn't have the same effect overall.
Yes I work and have a Life, I even play other games online as well *Gasp*. I require less sleep than most people and my playing style is to be constantly in the mix, taking down as many and as much as I can before I drop and respawn. That is the only reason I dislike playing HW is he takes to long to get back to the action at times.
And there are 36 entries in the Weapons statistics since we revereted back a version in NEO. There would be 39 if you add the Flaming MG, the soldiers remote and the Demos landmines. We never had the Crowbar MG so it doesn't count. The only other ones are the grenades in turkeyburgers that show up as GRENADE and the TANK in tiger. I seem to remember that there is a 2 man bazooka on a roof in Tiger but I've never gotten it to work or seen a Bazooka kill in the stats.
So we have:
29 without any NEO
36 with NEO 1.1
39 with NEO 1.2 (no crowbar MG)
At least 2 MAP specific weapons that can be added to each column. Personally I don't count the map specific unless the maps become part of the rotation on at least 1 server. Just be voted on doesn't give everyone the opportunity to get that kill.

How about keeping stats but getting rid of the skill points and ranks. Just leave it at stats so you will still have stats but no ranking at all, Just a thought |

I really like the stats in general, but especially the list of people that you've killed (more than 5 times, 10 times, etc.). And I'm with Hamese, I would like to see a list of people that have KILLED ME more than 5 times.
I HOPE that those people are already on the list of people that I've killed, but unfortunately, I don't think that is entirely true.
The people who've killed me list is good for deciding which team to play. If I see Secret Agent Man or Chumpy Lovepants playing on one team, I'll pick the other, just because I love the taste of shrapnel |

At the bottom of the list you can select 0 players killed by you and it will show all of them that way. If you never killed someone and they killed you 3 times it shows. |

Hello everyone! Not too many people in the gaming world keep stats of gaming online and free. The stats and the quality of game play i find at the ville are the major reason I and I think most play here. I like compitition and the stats intensify that compitition. As of now stats have been oriented to just a single player. But, this is team fortress and a great way to eliminate selfish players that point hog is to intoduce team points. give points to the entire team that capped that round. Specifically to those that killed the other team so that the person that capped could do so. You could also find a way to reward assisting other players. to reward players for working together...i.e., mg upgrades for neo, pyros or any two people killing one player together. medics and scouts who conc other team players. these points would be very rewarding because its more than just you its the entire team. if one team is better than the other team than they deserve the points... sooner or later though those pepople on the same team would have to play against each other (excluding clans) to truly determine the top 10. Make team selection random with the exception of clan members spawning on the same team. and is 2 or more people drop from the same team ave the server randomly even the teams back up. Regardless, if you want honest stats, you have to put alot of work into how people may receive points. Even reward rank kills. killing a person ranked 100 is certainly easier to kill than a person ranked 10, give points for that and make the other person lose points for being killed by someone with a lesser rank. these are all sugestions. I love the ville , the people, the stats and most of all appreciate the people that make the ville possible. All servers have some type of compe tition, but not like the ville. We are listened to, catered to by this world of the Ville built for us by us. There is no other TFC server with the competition the Ville has. Let's keep that title by making points something of value and playing as a team somthing of even more value. Good Luck to you Mr. Mayor and his staff to find the best solution to the inefficiency found in our stats. I trust you will succeed. If you would like any more ideas from me don't hesitate to ask I have a lot more and most are just food for thought. See you guys tonight.

Actually i like this idea.
It's -Team-, fortress classic. I suck, stat wise. I help my team constantly, though. Always Upgrading MGs, helping out engis by tossing them packs, healing people, repairing armor... The only thing i don't do is orginize my team to do planned raindow six style strikes. I'm working on that.
Maybe i can get people to listen someday too.
Regardless, a team point system would work better, i think. Another thing that could be done is a way to vote for people, to give them added points for just being helpful. If points were given for helping your team, i swear Snaggle and Tommy.Chong would always be at the top.
So, yes, i second this, put short. Thats all.

First let me say that I really appreciate the time and effort that must go in to maintaining the stats and incorporating people's ideas. Great Job!
Team related stats would be a great idea! I like to stroke my ego as much as the next guy, but I've really been wanting to experience some good team play. I don't think that I have the time or inclination to join a clan, so the next best thing would be to encourage people to play well together. I like seeing if my kill/death ratio is > 1, but I'd really dig it if my team wins/team losses number was > 1.
Plus, since I've been trying to play Medic, I can see that it could get really frustrating to play well and then watch your stats head south compared to some of the Snipers and HW's out there.
