Ok well here is my reply to the taunting. I'm sorry, but I'm gonna get on someone's ass if I see them being a statwhore and if I don't know who they are. If thats wrong of me then someone tell me. I just kind of accept it from sword now, plus I rarely see him in game, so I don't bother with him. In addtion, when people run and hide to protect their stats then it bothers me. There is no grounds for a statwhore to get mad if someone is bitching about them for not being a team player or being a llama about constantly running away/hanging back and getting health and whatnot. I remember Sully was playing that game and he had no problem with running to the front lines and attacking.

I'm sorry if my curiousity is bad. But I wonder who players are when they are 25-0 and under a name like ".", its a rather mysterious name. I was asking who . was earlier in the game and I got no response. So then I just busted out the llama comments after I killed him to get a response. Oh well it worked. I don't see why I can't call someone, who was hanging back and afraid to fight to protect their record, a llama. After I got the insults out of him I said something to the effect of "you play like a statwhore and you act like xaz" and I believe that was the end of the talking between me and . in game.

If you were under and alias and playing for fun then you should have just ignored me and kept playing the way you were. I hope all that made sense. I'm going to bed now.

In light of a few messages ive recieved,i feel i need to say something

For the language i used --- i appologize

For the way i downed Eagle---I appologize

Eagle take non to heart your a good player but it doesnt hurt anyone to die every once in awhile.i do all the time only cause i like playing an could really care less about the stats,i just feel its the opposite way with you.I dont doubt you like the game but i doubt that you dont play to be playing. You play to see the stats.Like i said please dont take it personaly an once again i appologize for the language i used an i again could have phrased what i said about Eagle a bit differently.

If everyone is playing the game with intensity, how can you be aware if one person is or is not attacking?
Its cap the flag not look around and see who's not playing the game.
I don't know about the rest of you but it's respawn and GO not look around.
I'm not telling anyone how to play or not play it just amazes me that things like this get noticed. I'm always to busy dieing>

I'm with you Roof, that is probably why I have the most kills every week. Respawn and on to the attack. Of course that is probably why I have the most deaths each week too

I've checked. I often have way more kills for the number of games played than the stat "Chasers". Most weeks I click on the kills column and there I am number 1 of course if I click on that "other" column (deaths) there I am number 1 as well. Oh well I'm not having fun if I'm not in the mix !!!

This is my last post on this. I think you and I both know it's pretty easy to tell when someone isn't attacking on offense or hangs back really far on defense. If you see them consistently run away to get health on offense that is one way. Another is if you are playing defense, and they are playing offense, and you never see that person on the front lines, but yet they maintain an high kill:death ratio, and they are not sniper or engy. It was also a very obvious contrast in styles of play when you had other good players to compare with. Sully was on the front lines and constantly attacking, consequently he was the leading scorer for his team and one of the main reasons his team was able to cap. . was not on the front lines and not attacking, but he did have by far the best kill:death ratio. I hope that explains how you can discern how someone is playing. Most people don't play like stat-llamas, so there isn't much to think about. However when they do it sticks out. Also, its not like I was doing a ton of typing while I was playing. If I remember correctly I did most of my typing after 4 was capped.

Finally, KRG am I wrong to call someone a llama who is only playing for stats? I just want to know.

Hi All,

I've read this post and felt compelled to add my 2 cents. I don't think this thread should have even started, Llama like activity is when a player brings down the enjoyment level of a game (usally for everybody) and is the source of why a team (or person) is failing. BigCaulk69, from what you posted it sounds like you were pushing Eagles buttons and got a response that you deserved and prompted, if you taunt anyone long enough you will probably make them angry. And besides that Eagle is a bot.... not even human and the respone you got was pre-programmed. You can't argue with a machine.... don't believe me? click this to hear Bones tell Spock that.

I would also like to hijack this post to thank everyone for there kindness through this difficult time, Cycodad your advice on the stages of mourning prompted me to research it and understand and deal with it more than I ever would have. I've tried to play some games here but I get hopelessly beat into the ground, I think you need a PMA to be helpfull to your team so until then I think I'll just sit in the bleachers and enjoy the show.

Peace

BigCaulk the reason I was hanging back or running away was because I would get stuck in the middle of action and I would push all the buttons. Then when it stopped I would be somewhere completly different. It kept saying CL flush entity packet or something. And I was waiting for it to pass so I could play.

This happens to me only at TV1.

Caulk,

Calling someone a Llama for being a "statwhore" is not using the word correctly. Like Roof and Pa said, you shoulnd't pay attention to stuff like that. How is his being a "statwhore" affecting your overall gameplay? Granted, I hate it when people run from a fight because they are about to die. But calling them a Llama or cursing at them really isn't going to help one bit.

Just play and enjoy the game at all costs. If there is one thing I have learned since I've been here it's this; you can't always fix or get rid of problems in the game. Sometimes you just have to accept them and play on. Posting about someone like this is just uncalled for. But that's just my opinion.

P.S. Tommy, that's what I'm talking about! Excellent post.

Just an observation, not directed at BigCaulk or anyone in particular . . .

When I see Player A complaining that Player B is a "statwhore", my first impression is that Player A is jealous of Player B's numbers. That may not be true at all, but that's the message I get. Why else would Player A even care?

An observant player will see the value in the high skill hang-back players. I went on a fattycapping binge a few weeks ago, and a lot of those are owed to Svvord being on my team. Because he was at the front lines helping me? Nope, I rarely even saw him. It was because you can trust him to always be back in your base with full stats and a pile of bodies in front of him. That gives you the luxury to go cap knowing that the enemy won't be scoring in the meantime.

Granted, that style is less effective on Avanti offense.

The reason I care about that is because I'm trying to create team oriented play here. I don't want players scared to come out of their base because they're afraid to die and loose points. What fun is that? What good does it do your team? A player who plays like that gets zero respect from me and really doesn't need to be playing here to begin with.

True Robert,

There are ways to handle it and there are ways not to. I just can't see the point in fighting fire with fire in these cases. If someone is being a flag holding Llama, grabbing the flag and holding it yourself is not going to help anything. If someone is not playing this game with a TPF attitude, calling them names and antagonizing them isn't going to help them see the light either.

You have all made this site as TPF oriented as you possibly can at all times. This "statwhore" thing will always be an issue as long as there is a list of player rankings. There still is a POTW to these people because the list is still there. It's just not on the front page.

I have no problem with the other stats like weapon stats and cap stats etc. These stats actually encourage you to help your team. Killing hundreds of sg's or capping mad flags for the daily award, will help all your teams. It's that evil list of player rankings that does nothing but promote anti-TPF play.

IMHO.
