Naw, that's JD when he rented a boat to go fishing in the States. Of course he supplied his own gun; who needs a rod when you can use a .50 cal?

THIS is the canadian navy:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Never mind the boat cracking in half hed burn his nuts having it that close... THe heat from M2HBs is horrible supposidly...

No thats not us guys... Too high tech. Its more like a row boat with a musket mounted for us... Except we cant afford oars or ammo for the musket or a new row boat for that matter... We had to it off a poor british fisherman. And then in the background are our four relativly new and outdated submarines! What you cant see them? Maybe theyve finally sunk from those "small leaks".... Stevo, it wouldnt be a jet its too hightech or if it was if wouldnt have wings - they would have fallen off from fractures in the metal plating. A seaking helicopter is more like it; the seaking canadas solution to global terrorism. We wont shoot ya but well sure as hell crash our choppers on you.

actually, you wouldn't burn your nuts or anything, as long as you don't do the final protective fire with it. In military terms, that's when you're about to get overrun by the enemy, so you just hold the triger down till you either run out of ammo, or your barrel melts. anyone ever seen an MG melt it's barrel? Me neither, just wondering. We did get to put some WP Grenades into arty breeches in Iraq, very neat! Coincidentally, WP grenades will not melt through a tanks armor, it's been tested and found false, not even on T-55's or T-72's. #Sniper #Sniper #2gunfire #2gunfire #2gunfire

Join the Marines then, unless you have an aversion to being shot by the U.S. Air Force.

Bleh its not that you have a chance of being killed, that you could be mutilated while still alive or your body could be dragged through the streets wont scare some people. Im sure that Shughart and Gordon knew deep down that they werent going to be able to hold the perimeter and that they and the crash site was going to be over run - after all it had been about half an hour to an hour from the time Durrant's bird crashed and the convoy still wasnt even close. But they kept going and went in because they probably though that they could make that little bit of difference. They would give 110% and if that wasnt enough then maybe they made some kind of difference in someones life - Durrant's. Im sure that they never even blinked an eye or had a second thought about trying to set up a perimeter and having a basically suicide mission. To me thats basically what heroism is. Everyone wants to be a hero but its our actions that make the distinction. Its the choices that you make when your afraid that really define who you are as a person. Somalia was a very unique insident, while it has happened before its a very hard thing to actually occur again... I highly doubt that the army would even let it happen again. If two birds were shot down and it was almost the same story as BHD then theyd probably cut a couple of troops and helicopters to the crash - its what Id do. Land em a couple of blocks away and then have them trafvel there on foot.

Death isnt something to be afraid of. It comes weither you want it to or not.

But thats just me...

Gah, it's not that I'm afraid of, It's the end of the movie--where they basically sprint after APCs. wtf, they were basically abandoned by the armored cars and were forced to march under fire all the way back to the stadium.

I dunno, unless the Army starts packing light portable folding Segways, I ain't signing up for ground infantry :/

We have those in the Marines, except ours come with eight wheels, half inch homogenous steel armor, and a 25mm bushmaster cannon. Oh, and it has little propellers, just in case you want to go for a nice leisurely boat ride!

You gotta realize that it was milasian drivers in those APCs. They were ordered to stay with the Rangers and help provide them cover but they sped ahead...

my rotc instructor was in somolia as a delta sniper...he would have benn with shugart and gordon....but they needed a sniper to staybehind in the chopper to provide arieal fire....wonder what would have happened to the three of them if that desicion was changed....would one extra person have helped? or would i be minus one good friend now...

Well Shughart and Gordon counted for like how many sammies? Like 75 each Id say. Delta are trained to wreak havoc and general anarchy after all... It wouldnt be that hard for them to hold off the mod. Although I would say that they would have eventually been over run by the time the rescue column got there they would have been too late anyway.

The ironic thing about the entire mission and movie is that it made me consider about the American Army - not "do I really want to get into this" but "AWWWW Damn this is so cool..." The whole idea of both of them giving their lives while trying to save others (durrant and everyone else were actually alive on the black hawk after the crash) just made the whole idea cool... Though no one wants to die (myself included) it did make a good moral impact. Im a wierdo eh?
