steam error please help

ok guys this is the problem i am having hopefully someone has some insite.

i down loaded the full version of steam and when i rty to log into avantiville i get to the part where u choose ur class and as soon as i do i get a error that read something like this

hl has caused error ATI09XAA.DLL

and then it closes my whole program and leaves my desktop in a mess and my screen gets huge and i have to reset so can someone help me??

this one is new to me.

this might help...find the clientregistry.blob file. just move it from the steam folder and restart steam.

this forces steam to re-download all the updates.

see if that does anything

Do you use an older ATI videocard and D3D instead of OpenGL ? It sounds to me like you do, D3D is screwed up right now with steam Anxious
