Ok, I got a new pc for my B-Day today with XP.
Problem= Using an external Zip 250 Parallel Port Drive with XP- During each reboot XP requests a zip disk to be inserted before it will allow it to proceed where Win98 did not.
How do I get XP to ignore my zip drive entirely during a boot-up and just treat it as a floppy drive ?
The zip is on it's way out the door, that is until I can burn the files to DVD after transferring the data off the disks that is Thanks for any input _________________ http://www.nosmacktards.com |

Species, I think XP sees the 250mb zip as a hard drive and not a floppy drive. I suspect there has to be a way within the settings for the device that you could define it as removable media.
I'm assuming you checked out Iomegas site for info on the drive and XP?
http://www.iomega.com/support/documents/11113.html
I did a quick search or two and didnt find any similar problems, I have not used a zip drive in hears so I dont have any direct experience that may help.
Perhaps email Iomega tech support if you cant find anything?

Maybe something misidentified in the BIOS settings possibly? _________________ Your suffering will be legendary, even in hell.

Open your com bios and remove the Iomega from the boot sequence. The Iomega normally shows up as a removable hard drive. |

Well if its showing as a floppy drive just turn that off as a boot device in your bios, how often are you booting from a floppy anyways? You can change it back when you need it. See if that works _________________ Killing is my bidness ladies and BIDNESS IS GOOD!!!! |

My zip drive isn't set up as a bootable drive just a floppy. I checked my Bios and eveything is where it needs to be.
