The question for this topic is skimming - not a drug or some new fantastic sport but an actual military reference.

Heres what skimming is:
when in a combat zone bullets can fly at you from any angle. Hence the reason why you should always try to keep one angle secure and safe (your back). There is also the reason why you stop and observe - are the bullets traveling right to left or left to right? Are the machine gun rounds or small arms rounds? If its small arms then the shooter has to stop and reload eventually. Its also the same with a machine gun however theres hardly ever just one gunner. A battle is a 360* area not just right in front of you, it surrounds and envelopes you.

Now, if you were traveling down a road or an alley way where would you go? Would you go to the middle of the road? Or the side? Or would you go a foot away from the walls? Would you stick close to the walls and put your back right next to it?

If you chose the last then chances are... your dead. Bullets can literally "skim" along the surface of a wall. Thereby hitting you if you chose to stand right next to the wall. A shooter could not even know your there - theyd be a real amateur but its still possible - and hit/kill you with a blind burst. Some folks who are/were in R.A may or may not know about this little phenomenon but potato can assure you - and potatos sure that some people will also agree - that its a very real thread in a combat zone.

Now this may seem like a really stupid post up until this point but it does have a reason. Heres the question:

would you like to have a "skimming" option in ASF? It wouldn't happen 100% of the time - some instances the bullets obviously rocoche off the walls and miss the walls completly. Potato belives that it would add another level of difficulty and military understanding to the game. What do you think? It would operate on a mathamatical forumla for the gun and the number of bullets it carries and so forth ofcourse.

Thanks,

Sounds really realistic. The problem is that the players may not know what it is and think it's just BS when they get killed that way.

No not even then. The best place is close to the wall - about a foot to two feet from it infact. That way you arent exactly out in the open.

BTW ASF will be getting a website up and running soon! Possibly this weekend - potato will post a link.
