in all honesty i think he will do a fine job as governor of cali in fact i would of voted with him. California needs a change and he is the man to bring it despite his past. People will just need an open mind about him though or else he will fail

You know, throughout this whole thing the main reason they wanted to recall Davis was the economy.....When in fact the State Governor is not even the guy who does any of that, the bugets and such are created, oked and passed by the state house and senate. _________________ World of Warcraft:

It's the governor's duty to say no to a bad budget much like Nevada's governor Kenny Guinn did. They went back and hammered out a better budget. Grayout didn't and did the usual tax and spend. Ask people in California how much they've enjoyed seeing their car registration triple and electricity during Grayout's watch. Davis OK'ed those awful deals with the power companies. Davis was less than truthful about the bedget defecit as well. 25% of Democrats and 55% of Independants voted to boot out Grayout. _________________ Yes, I'm still around

The Governor has a lot to do with the budget :-/
The Governor signs or vetos bills passed by the Legislature. He convenes special sessions of the Legislature for specific purposes. He delivers a report on the condition of the state to the Legislature at the beginning of each regular session. He estimates of the amounts of money required to be raised by taxation. He accounts for all public moneys received and paid out by him and recommends a budget for the next two years. He's the freakin supervisor and appoints many of the pivotal positions. _________________

He lied about hte state of the economy before last election and then released the deficit AFTER he was elected, even though it was supposed to be out already. Outrageous energy prices, along with ridiculous car taxes, something needed to be changed. I voted for Arnold btw. _________________ Usually my sig goes here, but who the hell needs one anyways. |

a governor can't continually veto a budget. if he does that it stalemates the government because unless a budget is passed no part of the government get any money. plus it wasn't exactly the governors fault that the energy companies diverted power from california plants to other parts of the country during the energy crisis. this is not to say that gray davis was a good governor, he was recalled in a way that is very harmful to democracy and we will see how well this turns out. |
