My Steam Problem.

i got the full installer and installed it, it updated, then i try and login into my account, and it says.... "could not connect to steam network. Either the steam network is currently not running or your internet connection is down."

so i go to steams support page and find this,

The following ports must be "open":
UDP 1200
UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive
TCP 27030 to 27039 inclusive

i have no idea how to block/unblock ports, and maybe it is blocked, who knows, but the network is up, so i can't even log onto steam, please help.

do you have a firewall or a router?

When i clicked on it now it updated the steam platform then gave me the same error, i have a workgroup switch, from linksys, connecting my two comps together?

I've had to change my firewall settings, then exit out and restart.
then change them back and exit then restart again.
even on different firewalls they acted wierd like that before.

After I did that all worked well and never had to do it again.

try this

1)Close Steam
2)Go to C:\Program Files\Steam\config and delete two files
Masterservers.vdf and Serverbrowser.vdf
3)Open Steam and hit refresh once and let it complete it's update.
4)Close Steam

That should fix it !

I have a question. I just got the full install too, and everytime i try to conenct it freezes up and the program stops responding about halfway through the connect. how do i fix that?
