why is it making duplicates of all the games? What if I don't use steam, will it run old versions? Are they different servers? waaaa... I've been using ASE to connect to everything. So now can I only play, say, CS 1.6 over steam, and only 1.5 the old way?

Best bet is to not install steam until they fix this piece of garbage software
correctly ! Just play as you always have until won dies.
