you might try moving your entire dod folder to:
email/day of defeat
It helped out my TFC cause its dumb and doesnt move any maps or sounds. So you have to dl them everytime, and you end up timing out. |

What the problem is is you are still trying to update TFC. You have probably gotten enough dled to be able to "play" it but you don't have enough to get in because for TFC you need the full thing to get into a server. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. When Steam is downloading new content the icon in the system tray changes. You can also view transfer rates in the 'Monitor' window. You may have to alt-tab back to your desktop if hl.exe is running. If you ever time out downloading a map, just reconnect to the server and it will resume. _________________ ctnstone.com |

I've had it for two days and even with Mulder's advice I still haven't been able to play a game of DOD or TFC _________________

I've finally downloaded enough that I can play but my framerates are
AWFUL. I get about a third of what my CD install gets. Anyone see
any tweaking options for Steam? |

I don't know about any tweaking, but as far as getting the games to run, I'm just fine now. I had to follow some advice from SHAFT and blown65 on some things, like moving my DoD files to their steam counterparts. I've been able to play any mod I've installed (all but NS so far), and my framerates are great. I've also noticed that some of the options are way better than they were before, like the console. Before if I tried to change a bound button, but couldn't remember the command, and I had to go to the keyboard menu, I'd get booted. Now it's pretty easy to get there and still stay in game. I also noticed the chat thing also works in game, so that's pretty sweet too.
I don't know, the thing as a whole was a huge pain to get going, but now that it is working, I kind of like it better than before. _________________ Under construction!!! |

I love that they say best thing for anti-cheat. I had one guy running a speed cheat, and another I'm pretty sure was running a wallhack. On top of that a guy was testing to see if it would kick him for running interp and it didnt. GJ. |

Its VAC which doesn't work for CS or DOD LOL but oh well gg Valve I'm trying to drag the whole tfc folder over to the stupid Steam folder I had to create. It looks like it worked maybe it won't take 2 hours to get into a game _________________
