I think I finally got steam to update (it's still updating - slowly). So when are The Ville servers making the swtich?

 An exact date has not been set but is reluctantly being discussed. I would expect maybe this weekend for a couple servers but I'm not real sure at this point. I'll let the server op's answer that one.

Why will you be done with hl games? Have a reason? 
I think too many people are saying "steam sucks" way too early. Once the mad download rush calms and its a few weeks into release then I'll start taking people seriously about steam.
Any of you guys try to play a massive online game at release/expansions? I mean like Everquest, Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies, etc? You want to be really fusterated with releases? Try a couple months before things are stable... but once it calms down.. things are fine.
All I can hope as an admin and one of the server operators is that once everything is done, we will still have all of you playing here. I hate reading that some of you will be done with HL games, because that means we can lose you as part of this community. Especially since we have no control over this.. it does feel bad.

I find it hard to believe that valve, half-life and or steam would screw up the following that they've developed. Give it time and let the ones that like to rush in go for it. After the first wave is finished just stroll in and do your thing. Sure there are going to be bugs and all but hey they get fixed.
Remember when DOD 1.0 came out. This and that sucked and what a bunch of crap. Whats it like today  Lets not panic

ok guys i installed steam and once it got past the slowest updater posible (most glitchy i say) they had an option to convert your old hl folder into the new form thats needed for steam so im pritty sure that the 56kers can still play if they have the main chunk of file on their computer already cuz it will just copy it into the format it needs to play... of corse i could be wrong cuz i screwed up and frosomereason had to start over and never got that screen again but if u get their im pritty sure it works that way

Actually, i used to be a huge Ultima Online whore, and when i heard what steam was all about and taking 5 days to download i started playing UO again so when the switch over happens ill have something to do. Maybe one day in the way later future ill get cable and come back to playing HL games.
