Why do I keep getting this when I try to start steam? It was working fine a hour ago.
STEAM caused an invalid page fault in
module STEAM.DLL at 0177:201d94a6.

Ok
Question #1: Why do I keep getting game not available when its installed?
Question #2: Why does it say my ticket has expired when not 2 minutes prior I logged in?
Question #3: Why does it take anywhere from 1-5 minutes just to load the main menu? |

What does it mean when I get a "Ticket expired" error in Steam?
Usually, this just means you need to re-enter your login information so that Steam can authenticate you. You may need to exit Steam and restart it in order to do this. |

Sorry roof, just to let off some "steam"
Why do I keep getting game is not available when installed?
I'm not too sure about this one, but I know I just had to wait a bit. I was given the same error message everytime I tried to play dod. One time, though, it decided that it would connect to the Steam server and started updating (check my previous post). Maybe just keep trying until you get a connection? It seems to be working rather well right now. _________________

the software is fine. You can not beleive me if you want but the slow load times and error's are all Bandwith related. Trust me this has all happened before.... . _________________ All comments are not nessasary those of the author so should not be taken as so.
Several chemical imbalances and mental health diseases may also exist.
Chances are if you feel flamed or attacked that I simply forgot to take my medication.

STEAM caused an invalid page fault in
|
An invalid page fault is intel-speak meaning that steam.dll tried to use
a region of memory that doesn't exist, or doesn't belong to it.
This can mean any of a hundred things: They might have a pointer
being used poorly and you just happen to have the right set of
circumstances to put that pointer somewhere bad, they might have a
race condition where the pointer is being used BEFORE the memory
it points to exists, your installation might be damaged...
Try re-installing if you haven't already. |

Q: I am on 56k, what are my options?
A: You have a few options on how to go about this.
1) Get the newest client dl(the huge file). This would be more if you also want to play CS.
2) If all you want to play is TFC and maybe a few custom mods get the small client install.
3) Try to find someone who has already dled the huge client and has already played TFC and any other mod that you want to play. Get some files from them(I'll add those soon, but they are mainly the cache files). Install the client(if you don't already have an account of your own create on), then copy over the files to where they are on the other computer, but make sure you use your login name instead of the other person's. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Q: How do I get mods like NS to work?
I have yet to test this one out(currently in the process of it).
Once you have steam installed, install HL and update it through steam. Then copy over your folder from your current HL directory to your new HL directory in steam. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

So explain how a slow server causes an invalid page fault? Oh, wait,
nevermind, because I did in my original post. |

All bandwith and conectivity caused. I'm telling you the same thing happened after the 2nd public beta was leaked. The second the bandwith issues were gone so were the program error's.
Violent Pacifist and MPI something close to this wrote: | they have enough money to actually pay some server providers to get a rental server, or hire people like amazon. They know it, but they're being cheap tightwads. | - The steam network right now is capable of just under 118 MB/s in transfers
- FilePlanet's 7 public server's have been at 100% usage with 2 hour lines.
They claims to AVERAGE 5.5 Terabytes of data per DAY.
- FileShack's servers are running at 100% with up to 3 hour waits. They
have had the full installer online for a little under 28 hours and have had
11574. Thats about 4 Terabytes of data in a day.
Thats roughly 10 terabye's a day and all 3 networks are maxed. There is no way they could have had enough resourses to pull this off smoothly.

VP hit me on IM I think I might be able to help you along a bit. _________________ All comments are not nessasary those of the author so should not be taken as so.

Q: How do I check my progress on the updating and installing of the games?
A: Go into the games section of the game that you want to play. Right click on the game and select properties. Then click on Calculate Cache Status. Let it sit for a while and it should bring up a screen. You should look for a portion that says two percents. One of those is a part required to start up the program the other is for all of the content for that program. If you are playing TFC, you need to wait for both of those to become 100%, if you are trying to get HL installed so you can then install other mods, you need to have the part for required to play at 100%(not tested yet). _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time.
