I haven't been able to get my mic(which worked on my previous computer) to work on this computer. This also includes sound recorder.
ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Nforce2 Motherboard
AMD Athlon XP Barton 2500+
2 - 256MB PC3200 RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128 MB
WD 80 GB hard drive
Lite-on 16x DVD Drive
Digital Research 52x24x52 CDRW
350 Watt PS
19 inch logisys monitor
Windows XP Pro
I've tried multiple things, like looking in the bios, changing mixer settings, reinstalling drivers, updating drivers, getting drivers from nvidia or asus. So far nothing has worked. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

are you using onboard sound? Do you have the mic turned on?
Does it work out of game? Is it plugged into the right socket?
do your speakers work? _________________ Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. |

Roof, did you just glance over the post, lol, yes, onboard sound, mic doesn't have a power switch, mic doesn't work in sound recorder, it is plugged into the right socket(tried both the front and back mic ports), and yes, my speakers work. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Yes I read your post. Yes I did not mention the mic to imply it had a switch althogh some do, but I meant your mixer settings. Yes you did post that you already checked that. I did not want to edit my post after posting....lazy at the time but I will write all of this. go figure.
We have had trouble with it self muting before. I dont know why it did that?? _________________ Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

Roof, I wasn't trying to be mean or anything with my comment, I said lol afterwards. I didn't mean it in a bad way. I glance over things all of the time. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

I don't think so beings it worked just beforehand on my old computer(which I can't test it on anymore becuase it is in pieces). _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

You seem to have covered the important points. did you google your problem with your MB info. to see if it is a common error? _________________ Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. |

Yeah, the only thing I have seen is that people have had muffled sound with the mic, or the front mic port doesn't work. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

Maybe it's broken and you should get a new one
I had a mic that broke for no reason at all while I was using it. _________________

Maybe you didn't wire it correctly or something. Have you checked to see if the mute button is turning on by it self, I've had that problem before. Or maybe your mic decided to break when you moved it around and stuff. _________________

I'm pretty sure the mic is still working, since I had just used it the day before building the new computer. Stevo, there is nothing to wire for the back port(which also doesn't seem to work with the mic) since it is a part of the motherboard. I've tried the mixer settings, and the mic isn't muted. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |
