Ohh hell yeah, I'm about to get me some of that cable too, then you should all really watch out. If you thought I was a bad mo fo/annoying/Ultrakiller just wait till they get a load of me in a month or so when my ping goes from 400 to 80 or lower.

Speaking of cable I hear @home is about to go under.. That would mean back to 28.8 land for me.

28.8! *Stares in fear* That is going to be slower than conceivable by the human mind, do you have RoadRunner in your area?
Well look on the bright side like "Life of Brian" my friend plays on a...dare I say...a 14.4! noooooo!

GOOD! I'm sick of their shit service anyway. If @homo goes under, then surely someone will step up to take their place. |

Well, if @home goes under, I'll have nothing...I don't even have a modem, just a network card, lol.
Oh, and I have "Always Look on the Bright Side" on my comp...was listening to it the other day

14.4, 28.8, I have heard of these, but I thought they were exctinct, or maybe just myths.

sorry to dissapoint you but cable is shared bandwidth . sometimes I have 500kbs and other times its as low as 70kbs. its usually low between 4:00pm and 12:00 midnight . so this means sometimes my ping is 50 and sometimes its 400 . It all depends on how many people are on the segment you are on .Hope you have better luck with cable than me .
kill you later

Cable is MISERABLE. Anyone I've ever met said their cable sucks because there are too many people sucking up the bandwitdth. I like DSL because I live about a block from the phone company, so I'm set (until I go to college, oh wait, I'm staying in PA) |

Good News gents. @home sent me a bill finally for a little over $100. So after they receive my check they should stay in business. Ref. cable problems, no problems in Dallas AT&T land. I usually average 2 to 4MB and the service has been rock solid. i have had Ma Bell cable now for gee almost two years now.

I have cable now and I'm going to keep killing you all - Living in Florida, all my neighbors are old (yes, there are people older than 32) and have no idea what a cable modem is. Works out great 4 me. Pinging at 50 today - so remember I actually killed you 3 minutes before you knew it:)

I had a problem with my cable modem but they eventually fixed it. The last hop to my comp was lagging around 375ms. They had to rebalance the node and replace some cable. My DL speeds went from 400 to around 3000 and my packet losses went from around 10% to 0%. The only downside is they capped my upload speed to 128. Not that this matters much for gaming but I could never run a server. I have read the reorts that @home was in some finacial trouble but my service is still up and running smooth so far.(crosses fingers and hopes) I asked the guy who came to check my modem how many ppl were on my node and he showed me there were only 29 on it. He sez that they will only put 50 connections on the node then they split it. He also told me that they could theoreticly put 75 to 100 connections on my node before any noticable slowdowns start showing up. I haven't noted any slowdowns at all and I am always doing speedtests from dslreports.com.
