Here is Johnny's Home,

A 27 year-old man complained of a painful, red, furuncle-like 2 cm nodule on his abdomen. The lesion had been present for a week. The man was otherwise healthy. Take a “second” and make a diagnosis.
(For the answer, please scroll down.)

Here is Johnny,

Diagnosis: Cutaneous Myiasis

Flies can deposit their eggs on the skin. The larvae hatch, burrow into the skin and then 7-10 days later, a red nodule develops with a central ostia or “wet” appearing center. The larva will move approximately every minute, surfacing for air. Patients often sense this movement as intermittent pain. Covering the nodule with petroleum jelly or lard can often cause the larva to move to the surface where it can be gently lifted out with forceps. Alternatively, infiltrating lidocaine HCL under the nodule can often push the larva out.

I was just reading about this minutes before coming here and seeing Rob's post. I cannot imagine the horror that the dude who's pecker is fly infested is going through. This isn't as bad as that amazon species of small fish that loves nothing better than too lodge itself within a mans urethra as the unsuspecting host urinates in the river. (a reference to this was made in the movie Anaconda I think)

Ok you guys wanna hear a really silly story. this is honest to god truth and i saw it on the discovery channel a week or two ago.

Ok this guy was a wildlife photographer for some company and was in the rain forest for a few week getting footage. he returned home without a problem and about a week later he noticed a little bump on his stomach. he could see something poking out every once and a while so he went to the hospital. They hospital told him it was a fly larvae and they could remove it fairly easy. He said " no, i want to keep it as a pet". as you can tell this guy was very silly. he felt if it wasnt causing him any harm then why not leave it there. so he went home and for the next couple weeks would joke about it with his friends and would show it to people. He even named it henry. So about 3 weeks after his hospital visit the larvae actually start to gestate and turn into actual flies. it starts to cause him extreme pain so he decides to get rid of his pet Henry. He read somewhere on the internet that if you put a thawed, room temperature steak on top of the bump it will try and get air and not be able to and therefore burrow intor the steak. then you can do whatever. so he sat there for 2 hours with a steak on his stomach and after a while he got sick of it and went to the hospital. they removed it without a problem and he wears the half gestated larvae in a vial of formaldehyde around his neck.

now tell me if that isnt the wierdest thing you ever heard. that guy is a wierd guy if you ask me.

jack
