people do get around child support, its sad that they do, some counties here are going after and arresting those ppl. there is kinda a loop hole in the system on child support payment, but if no one knows already, i probably shouldnt mention it. (that loop hole wouldnt save you from going to jail if you kept doing it in some counties here in alabama). The divorce rate seems high here (or atleast from my standpoint where we process close to 1,500 of them a year (and climbing). So why marry when she could eventually, and legally, take half of what you own?? If a lot of people didnt get married and then divorce within the year or decade, it would make work at the courthouse a lot easier. People are always comming here wanting stuff from previous divorces so they can reopen a wound (in some cases). _________________ "I think it's dumb when people say video games affect kids negatively, I mean, if Pac-Man affected us, we'd all be hanging out in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music...." All I'm saying is that it works both ways Gelly. If you dish at someone that it may fly back at you. Just be more aware of that. I'm not taking it personal. _________________ Yes, I'm still around

The purpose of having forums is to allow people to have discussions and voice opinions. Like Rob says "opinions are like assholes". Nobody is forcing anything on anyone here. _________________

Being in love and committed is not strengthened by being married. For some people it is the end all be all in terms of saying YES, I am committed to you. Not everyone needs that piece of paper to confirm what they feel.
It is strickly an individual choice, I think. Because really, what is the difference between living with someone for several years and then breaking up and being married for several years and then getting divorced? Not much.
Marriage is what you make it or how you see it. Nothing more, nothing less.
I'm rambling and it's time to eat. |

Looks for the soapbox... nah too small...
Grabs a pulpit... SWEET.. but too big.......
So I'll stand on my own two feet for this..
There is not a right or a wrong opinion here, there is not right or wrong to marriage either.
Marriage isn't for everyone, having kids isn't for everyone, married or not.
Marriage is what you make, its about TWO people, not just one, it's about love, sharing and commitment. YEP, I know, all the anti marriage people say that you can do that wihout marriage, which is true.
IF you live with someone long enough, in most states, you will be considered common law husbands/wives, you split, then expect to lose half your shit.
It makes no difference if your divorced or single and if you have a child, you have an obligation to support it, and the mother has the right to have child support from you. Of course getting the money is an entirely different matter..
What is important is being happy and being responsible for your actions. I am married and I am happy, I don't need to have kids, but I do, and because I have them, they enrich my life, because they are my choices and my life.
I didn't marry for religion, I didn't marry because it dates back to god knows when and is expected, I married because I wanted to and to the person I love.
Yea, sure, people do live longer these days, but that doesn't make marriage bad. In my opinion, and this is my opinion, most people should not get married before 30. Why?? it's simple, most marriages fail because people marry too young. Most poeple don't even know themselves, let alone know someone else who is still changing and still growing up.
Getting hurt / burnt, however you want to phrase it, is part of relationships, it's part of learning about yourself as much as someone else. Relationships fail for a reason, If you want to experience the good in ralationships, you have accept there are going to be failures and your going to get hurt sooner or later. However, for me it's been worth it, you can't find a partner that you will be happy with, unless you try.
Finally...
Whatever your opinion or circumstances, do what makes you happy and don't knock what works for others, after all it's their happiness, their decisions and their lives.
That's it, maybe I should have used a puplit..
Life is short, be happy,

I'm not the problem. If you saw what I saw. You'd understand. We can start with faked pregnancies, cokehead, liars, and cheeturs. Go through a few of those and see if you are a wee bit jaded after.
That being said I do have a few friends back in Chicago in perfectly good relationships. _________________ Yes, I'm still around
