iMesh is a peer-to-peer file-sharing program (i.e. Napster, Kazaa, Morpheus) that lets you download audio/video files, images, software and just about any other type document from a 'community' of other iMesh users who have agreed to share them. I personally have used it for a few months now, and though not the best, it does it's job.

Flashget, on the other hand, is actually a download accelerator/manager (i.e. GoZilla) which can increase overall download speed and allow resumed downloads after a broken connection. So, they would not fall under the same category.

Hope this helps!

Just a quick note regarding FingerDemon's post.

It is very much true that iMesh & other P2P Sharing progs. like it contain spyware. Though, I have found that being selective in removing certain components through AdAware would allow continued access of iMesh and eradicate it's spyware capability. This is definitely something to keep in mind when downloading any type of software.

Have a Happy 4th of July! #Beer

Galadriel,

Some of the peer to peer file sharing software installs spyware components on your system for bringing you ads and possibly tracking your internet usage and whatnot. I ran Ad aware on my machine and it found spyware had been installed by iMesh. When I removed the spyware, iMesh no longer worked. I ended up using WinMX instead, but I know there are other non-spyware peer to peer software programs out there besides WinMX. I should also say that this was many months ago, so iMesh could have changed since then. And not everyone cares about spyware either.

I hope this was helpful.

In short, iMesh sucks. Get Kazaa lite. It is spyware free and is on the Gnuetilla network which also serves to people on the Morpheus Limewire and normal Kazaa programs
