DoD hacks and stuff

Ok, so I"ve been playing DoD for a few days now, and I have some questions;

Since this is a new mod, are there many cheats that people can/will use, and are the developers working on making anti-cheat software?

How can I tell if someone is cheating? There are sometimes a lot of accusations flying around the game, but I honestly don't know how to spot the different cheats, which kind of goes along with not knowing what all the cheats are.

If someone is being accused of cheating, what is the normal course of action by the admins? I mean, do they have ways of detecting that kind of stuff, or is it all done by watching the game itself? Since I am a supporter, I am assuming I have the kick vote thingy, but I've never used it, and am loathe to start using it.

Thank you for your time. This all originates from a game today where someone was accusing a clan of cheating using a "knife hack". Granted, I got a little pissed at getting killed 8 times by a shovel

. The clan was Xeno, I think. Is there a listing of clans that are known to hack, or do clans not do that in general?

I agree with PaddyJack.

Its not easy to catch a Hacker, but when we do its usually pretty blatant and they usually will not deny it when accused.

Until the authors quite giving out the Source Code cheats will never stop. Then again, if they stop where will we get these awesome mods from ?

Unless one of these kid's amp out and decides to become a Serial killer who's main target is cheaters than it's a no win situation.

Tonight there was a excellent example of what I was saying. There was these two players from the same clan, one of them finished all maps with a 6-1 ratio, but IMO this guys was playing with the mp44 in a very efficient fashion. The other one had me thinking, because he was playing with the k43 carbine, and killing in one shot every time I saw him, which means he was headshot all the time. I followed him, but found nothing too faulty..... still he is the most impressive k43 carbine player I have seen so far.

So, maybe these 2 players are clean, but I must admit they completly owned me, and so I was suspecting them. Lol!

DOD is not like other mods, not like cs where u can shoot through walls and tells you when someone gets headshots, its hard to tell if someone is cheating. I'll catch spawn campers easier than cheaters, i dont know enough about cheats to start accusing people of using them.

Is TV not running in secure mode? I know Valve is constantly updating their anti-cheat measures. The last update was actually 5 days ago.

It is running VAC since my CD prevents me from joining due to the fact I would get a "Global Ban".

BTW CD is Cheating Death a server and client based anti cheat for ns and cs for those that dont know

what does a client based anti-cheat program do? wouldn't something like that need to be on the server? I know there's stuff like that for TFC, but is it just a wait and see thing to find out if there's one for DoD?

You run CD on your computer and it will look for haxs then when it connect to the CD server your comp says ok and then the server takes a look too.

Very effective. If it was used in TFC sparkey, unlim bhop, etc you would just be kicked from server. That is what it soes when it finds a hax.

Most of the complaints I hear are accusations of Wallhack. This is due to the player thinking they are completely hid behind a wall. From their view they probably are, but from the view of the enenmy on the other side his thumb maybe sticking out. Thats all it takes to hit somebody with the way the hit zones are coded. I think Species posted something about the hit zones before. The thing that bothers me is that this happens alot to me also and I usually die from one shot. I know that my head and chest are behind the wall, so I don't see how somebody can kill me in one shot by hitting a arm or leg. Primarily it doesn't bother me to much, since I am there to play for the fun of it. But it does get fustrating. I get pretty tired of the accusations that fly around. Sadly these same people also cus up a storm to go with there accusations.

Paddy right in his first post about people having brighter monitors or video cards. I went the cheap route to get the 64MB AGP card and bought a SiS. So my view is probably darker than other players. I have trouble seeing through windows and across sections of a map like on plaza areas, that other players with rifles act like snipers.
