Well i want to be done with microsoft since i just went 1/2 with my father in getting windows xp pro and the stupid thing can only be activated on 1 computer & they lock the copy if u dont activate with-in 30 days, so i was wonder how good is linux with most games & what normal stuff may not work with linux & is networking easy to a computer with xp pro & 1 with linux?

Any help will be appreciated, thanks

hmm.. don't expect to be playing half-life on linux. It's possible, but the quality is not very good. Linux is the best networking OS out there so there shouldn't be a problem connecting to Windows machines. There is a steep learning curve w/ linux, there's a lot more to it then windows and it's not for basic or general users. There are some games out there, like return to castle wolfenstein, or quake 3 that have been made for linux, but there are not many other games directly ported over.

I don't think Linux was really ever meant for the normal home user. But Caldera and some other companies are making user friendly versions. But you will still need to know some stuff that makes us Certified Microsoft Monkeys look like amatuers!
