I don't see HL becoming dead until everyone gets their PCs upgraded. HL2 is pretty demanding on resources.

OKAY THIS IS IMPORTANT! I WANT EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO WORK ON THE MOD TO POST UP THEIR WORK ON HERE. IF YOUR INTERESTED IN WORKING ON THE MOD THEN POST IT UP! OR PM ME.... EITHER WAY - THE MOD HAS A BILLION PLACES OPEN FOR WORK SO IF YOU WANT TO WORK ON SOME STUFF THEN YOU GOTTA SHOW YOUR STUFF ...

Thanks, chan I will take a look at some of those MODs though, I would rather if we made the effects on our own - then we arent coping anyone else's work.

I made some CS deathmatch maps so I could play them on a LAN game, but I could make better ones. It would probably be best if someone designed it on paper or something and sent it to me to build it.

Heya, okay, I added some names to the list of “staff” for the project… We still need some more people to help out, the more the merrier and easier for that matter… I will try to work in each area, Id like to see how each area progresses and I can help out, Ive made some short 3D games and levels in the past.

Well, I have a few qustions, and I doubt they can be really answered yet, but I will post so we can at least start the ball rolling. Me and Stephen (mostly Stephen, I povidied the tools for this one) have just finished a rough draft of a prologue score. Unfortunately, we need some more specific details to work on anything. One, is it going to be primarily a single player or multiplayer game. I know both are wanted, but we need to know which you would prefer to have us concentrate. Also, What are the aliens, are the animal intellegence like in normal HL or Aliens, or are they going to be of Human intellegence? And what will the enviroments be like, Outdoors, indoors, a mix, and will they be dark, dim, or well lit? All of thes factors will affect the music and sound effects, so the soon you can tell us the better. I will also list my idea, though it is Multiplayer and NS based --

Human Marines v Aliens (Make them the Kilaak for fun?)

Have both sides be of the same intellegence, and tech level. Each one would have it's differences, different weapons, different buildings. The goal to be to eliminate the other. Also have spots on the map that would be good to control for one reason or the other, say the aliens weapons are energy based, and if the capture a power node spot or something, there weapons have more energy, and the marines can use it for something like shields of some sort. Something along those lines to encorage building outpost and stuff. Also have a good veriety of weapons, and say a marine drops his weapon for some reason, an alien can pick it up and use it until it is out of ammo, and vise versa. I think something like that would be interesting and fun, but that is just my oppion

Heya, yea I haven’t gotten too far into development yet… I believe that it will mainly be used for the multi feature, however there will be a single player fearute as wlel (like I said). The single player will be like Splinter Cell (in the fact that you need to do similar things with enemies, like hiding their bodies, etc). I don’t know what that is going to look like just yet but it will be similar to any other FPS out there in some aspects. Don’t worry about the single player game for now - multi is where I would rather finish and work first.

The aliens are both humanoid and animal… I think that some will look more humanoid than others but they will be fairly similar. The tech-tree for both sides will be even - however, some classes will be better against other classes, and some classes will be better at certain things, such as stealth or being a power house. The maps will be both outdoor and indoor - and also a mix in some cases. Now, you don’t need to create music for each map - that would be kind of redundant and would take too much time (not to mention increase the download size). The light levels will be dependant on the certain map, however, there will be dark, light and semi light places in each map. That way each character class can be use to their max. Each side should just have perhaps one theme, maybe some extra ones for specific moments in each map - like the aliens are taking over the human’s base or something like that.

You’re idea about that sort of game is pretty good. I also was thinking of adding in some other things that you can use such a hover tanks, or fighters/bombers on certain maps… But that doesn’t really matter for now. Basically I believe that you guys can do a great job on this. I’ll get the forum for the mod up and running soon - I just need to set it up.

Anyways, wait for some of the music until the game progresses a bit farther. By all means you can think of scores and other such things but they might not work in the long run with the game.
