For those who cannot play due to a uni/school firewall.

I was talking to Stump last night (Of the E4 variety).
He was saying he can't play when he's at school cos of the university firewall.
Well asit happens, Planet Halflife posted an article about how to get round the firewall for the specific reason of playing games.
I was gonna email him to it, but it'll be useful for all, so I'm posting it here.

Nah Rob - it's combination of both.
Many a drunken night for me has ended with staggering home and deciding a ville session would be a good idea.

College for me, though Ville-less, did start me on my way to the Ville. Back then, we were playing non-stop multiplayer games of Doom at the computer lab (as we passed the sp!!f). Then, along came quake, rott, hexen, etc. Sierra and/or first person perspective games have come a long way, baby.

I imagine its a network firewall ? Not a personal one? If its network goto http://www.sygate.com havent been there in awhile but it had dos commands to allow you to open certain ports remotly.

Out of scheer bordom I cranked up my firewall here and set it up on a remote machine I have. It worked 1st try with no problems at all ping was strong

Could the process by changed slightly to enable hosting a server behind a firewall?
If so - when I get back on T1, expect "The Ville - UK"

Lets see, college taught me:

A: There is never any true need to stop drinking. Unless you run out.

B: My social security number back and forth, up and down.

C: Just because a book only has 10 pages doesn't mean you can buy for under $80 bucks.

D: Even if you have never opened that $80 book, they will buy it back for $5.

E: I think I learned some criminal justice and psychology there too. But I'll have to get back to you on that!
