How do I get AdminMod to work with the new version of hlds.exe.
Whenever I try to run it, it crashes and says:
| Quote: | Hlds has caused an error in MSVCRT.DLL.
Hlds will now close. |
Then after that, I get:
| Quote: | | Couldn't allocate dedicated server IP port. |
Then I restart the computer and do it without AdminMod just fine. My TFC server works just fine because it has AdminOP instead.
I don't like the new hlds so far, but I heard it solved lag issues somehow. If there are updates or plugins I need to fix this, then please tell me so I can get it working before Sunday. And if there are important plugins I should get for DoD or NS, tell me that, too.

Along with the latest hlds patch you will need several other updates to..
latest metamod dll: www.metamod.org
latest beta adminmod: www.adminmod.org
Also with the latest patch if you dont want to use that stupid gui add "-console" to your cmd line.
As for the port error, hlds is running already and using that port so when you try to start it up again it cant lock that port. So you either have to kill the task or reboot.
Those two updates should solve all your problems though. PM me if you still have issues and ill help you get your server running. |

Thanks Danno, I'm downloading as I type. I havn't thought of updating it for a long time. And thx for telling me how to lose the gui.

The problem on my new computer where I started fresh and installed and configured it correctly is different. Whe another computer tried to connect, it will load for a minute, the crash hlds. I also looked in the server console and it said couldn't load some cfg files. I never needed to use these files before, but should I just put empty cfg files just to satify it, or is it something else.
I will try to go to the UA website and see what they have for me.

Okay, problem solved. I went to the admin mod website, downloaded the latest version, installed it (a little more complicated but more like the tfc server that worked), and it works fine. Just in time for tomarrow's LAN game!
