Pu-lease don't get me started...
Too late.
Oklahoma's toll roads--according to the original bonds should be paid off around 1985. Oh, wait we almost paid off one turnpike, must be time to build another so lets issue new bonds--using the entire turnpike system as collateral, so we have to keep charging tolls on the entire system just to pay the interest on the bonds!
We even have 2 lane toll roads--WTF is that!
Here is the kicker--our toll roads are some of the worst roads in the state. They are rough and not well maintained because the tolls are used to construct new turnpikes and not for maintenance of the ones we have--or heaven forbid ACTUALLY PAYING OF THE FREAKIN' BONDS AND MAKING THE ROADS FREE.
Sorry, whole can a worms that I should have left closed.
Now, don't get me wrong...Oklahoma is a beautiful place to live--the area where I live is peaceful and clean and the people are friendly. (A traffic jam is four cars at a four-way stop--everyone waiving for someone else to go.) If you have a flat tire, you probably will not have to change it alone because someone will likely stop to help. But we do have some bizarre quirks in our laws and such... _________________

Not only was the OK TPK no fun to drive on. It was the only road (from the Missouri/Oklahoma line to Oklahoma City at the I-35 jct) that had no cell phone coverage except for Tulsa. _________________ Yes, I'm still around

I drive a gold Saturn SL1, and there are atleast 5 others at the University of Akron. One of them did something to get the boot called for, but they left. They found the next nearest Gold Saturnm Mine, and put it on. After arguing at the UA police station for nearly an hour they told me that even though I was not in the computer, they said I had to have done something to get the boot. Luckly my I had a relative on the UA force, he went out, took a look at my car, and turned to the guy who put it on. I never saw anyone turn as white and nearlly crap himself like this kid (UA hires sepcial people, other students, to give tickets and the boot, not the actuall police, evne though we have our own force). Apperently this was the 5 time in 2 weeks he had sone this, because he gets a bonus for every ticket and a bigger bonus for giving th boot. _________________ http://www.barbertonrhps.com - The offical Website for Barberton's West Theater Rocky Horror Picture Show in Ohio

I've decided that So Cal isn't all that special either.
- traffic
- weird people
- rediculously high taxes
- stupid car pool lanes
- bad drivers
- your governor is a grade a nimrod
- the ducks lost
- smog
- barbed wire on each hwy sign...classic stuff
- the high cost of living (about on par with chicago and seattle...behind sf and nyc.)
- L.A. #2 in murders behind Chicago
- South Central and East L.A.
- Hollywood is overrated
The beach is cool though |
I've told you this many of times, L.A sucks, its all about Orange County and the beaches. |

That I don't understand...
That stretch of road (Will Rogers turnpike Missouri line to Tulsa and Turner turnpike to OKC) has had cell towers for over ten years (going all the way back to the old bag phones). I drive the Will Rogers tpk when we go visit my bro in Nebraska and never have had below a half-strength signal. My question: who is your wireless provider because that may have more to do with the service. (I have a friend here who owns like 14 cell towers in this part of the state and leases time to the providers--some pay--some don't so no service.) Of course there is another quirk here--my father-in-law lives about a mile from a cell tower, but has no cell service at home because his provider locks out that cell tower because of no lease. -- duh
BTW Oklahoma thanks you for your $6.70 in tolls, now we can start building another turnpike. _________________

Don't tell me about Toll Roads. Because of the every increasing Welfare, we have less money for roads. So what is the solution everybody, you got it TOLL ROADS!!!!! I swear Dallas is the next New York City. Which is why I refuse to leave Tarrant County and live in Dallas County. Oh don't get me started on Public Mass Transit!
Ok Frag here is one by Mayor Laura Miller of Dallas. Now I don't smoke or like being in inclosed areas with smoke(restaurants). But I believe that the restaurants should decide to ban smoke or not or come to a compromise like in Arlington were you have non-smoking and smoking sections. Miller goes in bans all smoking in public places including restaurants, excluding bars and nightclubs. She is now contemplating banning cell phone usage in the car and in all public places, too. I do have to give her credit on putting her foot down on the new Cowboy stadium deal, so the county went around her and is going to put the stadium in the city of Dallas, with Dallas tax money against the wishes of the Mayor and citizens.
Oh and it usually takes 20-30 minutes for a Dallas Police Officer to arrive on the scene of a 911 call. |

This is the reason Texas got rid of putting stickers on the plates and started putting them on the inside driver's side window, next to the inspection sticker. |

It seems like the bigger the city the more out of control things get due to the automatic chance of having someone stupid in power. Since you have stupidity you have to cater to them hense bringing about stupid laws and regulations followed by more stupid people. _________________ Yes, I'm still around

Verman your thoughts are correct, with the likes of Gay Davis in office we don't stand a chance here in Calif. When he took office we had a surplus of around 20 billion now we have a negative 35 billion. That’s 50 million he has spent on who knows what and now he wants us to pay it back. Some of the ways he wants this to happen is triple the car tag tax along with the state tax there working on a city tax and county tax witch will add another 10% to the already high tax rate. If it keeps going the way it has been here I won't be able to afford to live here any longer.
Gay Davis
This is only the tip of the iceberg, there is not enough room in the forums to say everything about what has happened here in Calif. over the past few years. There is a recall effort going on now and if it works the person that does get voted in will be left with a pile of crap and will probably be blamed for all that has happened . So I have been contemplating moving to either Nevada or Arizona just can't take it here anymore .
P.S. One more thing the electricity here in Calif. has been sky high since Gay Davis negotiated with the electric companies a few years back and got reemed by the electric companies because of his wonderful skills at negotiation. Some areas got hit harder then others, my electric bill jumped from an average of $80 - $120 a month to over $300 a month.
Well can't type anymore getting to pissed off, time for a _________________

| Maybe you guys should just say screw the system, and go Amish. If you don't mind the beard and sleeping with the same woman the rest of your life, it might work for ya. Oh, btw you will most likely have to give up TFC since they're not hooked up to the world wide web, but think of all the money you'll save!! |
