i play with an optical mouse and at least once during a game of dod i will get that "optical 360 degree dance "happening. and today for the first time in a long time went in to tv7 to practice sniping and a few crowbar wars broke out and with all that E&E on my part my 360 spins happened way more. anybody else have this happen to them.some say a stardard mouse is better for gaming
btw thanks mongoose slayer it brought back the memories _________________

I've been using a $20 logitech optical for over a year now, and have never had this problem. I saw someone post a problem like this awhile ago, but I don't know if he got the problem fixed or not. _________________

I have never had any problems with my optical mouse, except when it's batteries run out during a game (Wireless bviously). But then again, it is the only mouse I have used while gaming, so I may have just ajusted to it automaticlly and not realized it _________________ http://www.barbertonrhps.com - The offical Website for Barberton's West Theater Rocky Horror Picture Show in Ohio

There are a few things that I know of that causes it:
1) Is the lense clean?
2) Are you using a mousepad and if so, what type?
3) If the answer to 2 is no, is the surface you're using dark, bumpy, or dirty? _________________

Sometimes drab mouse pads that lack a decent pattern will cause the optical mouse to go wacko. Try a mouse pad that is dark in color with a bright design. Maybe that's your problem ? _________________ http://www.nosmacktards.com |

I was having problems with mine for a while there. The problem ended up being a dirty lens. I went to my garage and gave it a shot of compressed air and all was better. _________________

My MS Optical did that so I had it replaced with a new one. Has not happened again. _________________

Something like that happened to me at times in the past. I would start spinning and if I didn't move the mouse, it would continue to spin. I think so people have gotten demo of it at times. It was with a cheap $5 mouse, so I thought it was to be expected(especially since now it seems like it died after about a year of use.) _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time.
